3 weeks of a cough?

DS1 has had a cough for 3 weeks. Every morning he wakes up with a hacking (productive) cough. He coughs for an hour or so (on and off) after that he is more or less cough free. The cough is pretty nasty. We head to Disney on Thursday. He has no other signs of an issue.

WWYD? Take to doctor?

With an impending trip, I would definitely go to the ped.

But a cough can easily last for 3 weeks. Has it gradually been getting better and better? Or has it stayed the same?

We have had that going on here as well. Around Halloween (when it first showed up!) DS1 ended up having pretty bad ear infections in both ears and wasn't even complaining! With a big trip planned, I probably would go to the ped just to be sure the ears are clear and the cough hasn't gone to the chest.

I would go to the ped. DD is finally getting over her cough that she had for 2 months. The doctor prescribed a nebulizer and that really helped.
