Just helped the kids finish 48 v-day cards. It (NOW) occurs to me that I don't have anything planned for them at all. I can do something tomorrow before they get home from school. Hit me with your ideas. Nothing insane just something fun.
Thanks!

I buy books and inscribe them. DS and have made cut out sugar cookies in the past.

I am a bit nervous, because although I haven't played it up, the girls seem very excited. maybe I should have planned something?

I got them stuff at the dollar store -- socks, stickers, a little pink heart pillow (one says hug, other says kiss) for their doll beds. And some candy.

I bought ds1 a small stuffed animal I know he'll like. Not sure what to do for ds2. I made a big heart shaped cookie cake for dessert.

I'm not sure what i'm doing yet...guess i'd better figure it out quick!
I saw this idea on a blog earlier and thought it was super cute. You could make it alot simpler than she did too though.

We've all been sick here so V-Day is turning out to be a non-event for all of us. Even me & DH!
I picked up some American Girl pet sets at BJ's so I'll probably do those. Unless the get saved for Easter! I also got some stickers and a little candy. I might make some cookies or brownies or something. But we just got all our Girl Scout cookies so that seems like alotta cookies. Sooooo.... who knows.
The boys are getting 2 books each, a small chocolate and these cute small stuffed animals (busytown characters- lowly and huckle).
For lunch I am going to give them nutella/fluff sandwiches cut into heart shapes.
Tomorrow night DH and the boys are making dinner. I am taking care of dessert - chocolate fondue.

DD is 2, so she doesn't really know the difference, but I think I'll make her toast with strawberry or raspberry jam cut out in a heart shape, and other red foods for breakfast (strawberries, etc.). We're doing a heart-shaped pepperoni pizza for dinner, and fondue. She gets enough sweets every day as it is, so I think that's about it for sweets! :)

We let them pick out a cupcake next to the place that F got his first haircut at today. I know, big planners.

I bought some candy from Trader Joes (no dyes and other artificial stuff which sets off my kids), crazy-straws that are heart shaped, Cliff kids red twisty fruit ropes, and stickers. Then put it all into little party bags with ribbon.
I'm going to make pancakes for breakfast and cut them out into heart shapes.

Definitely don't have the receipt. I got them maybe a month ago? One is a white dog, one's an orangy cat. They each have a little book or crafty thing with them. They were either $14.99 or $19.99. They were with all the books, kinda buried in there. I saw identical sets in barnes & noble and they were $24.99.

our boys are getting a cute pop up card DH and I found at Cost Plus and a small bag of See's candy chocolate red foil wrapped hearts.
I need to hit the drug store for a card for DH after I drop the boys at school in the morning... might see if I can get some chocolate dipped strawberries cause we all love them. Still trying to figure out something creative for dinner.

We made cupcakes and a fruit tray for DD's party at school tomorrow, as well as her valentines. This year, the only other thing she's getting/we're doing is DH always sends her a long-stemmed rose just from Daddy. He always loved that my dad has always done that for my sisters and me, and still does, and wanted to do it for DD. :heartbeat:

DDs are getting a Toodles figurine for their Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I'll probably get them little chocolate hearts from Wegmans tomorrow. And we'll make cookies. :)

I got each girl a (tiny - it probably contains only 4 or 5 pieces) heart-shaped box of chocolates, a card and a DVD. And I plan to make a nice dessert, possibly chocolate dipped strawberries or some other thing that would be out of the ordinary for a weeknight.
We're generally in the "it's fun but not a big deal" camp of people (from the poll) but DD1 is really excited about it this year so I'm making a slightly bigger deal of it than I might otherwise.

I've picked up some really inexpensive odds and ends on clearance over the last few weeks. DS is getting a Buzz Lightyear bowl/plate set, a pack of big boy underpants w/ fire trucks on them, and a pair of Lightening McQueen socks from Target $ spot. For his nursery school class, I picked up Valentine's sticker booklets at Walgreens during the post-Valentine's Day markdowns last year and some Yummy Earth organic lollipops I have left over from Halloween :-)

I guess I'm the bad mom of the group. Nothing. We've never done anything. I didn't get gifts growing up, either. I might have gotten a box of conversation hearts, but that's it.

Me too..Nothing. DS made a card for me with the babysitter last night. Today on the way back from the park, he and DH stopped and bought flowers, and then DS said he wanted to take me out to dinner. He then asked what valentine am I giving him. Mmmmm, looks like I'm hitting Target after school drop off tomorrow...

I wasn't planning on doing anything either, but both kids are SO excited about it, I felt I *should* do something. I will be serving them heart shaped pancakes for breakfast as well as a small doughnut with pink and red sprinkles. Also, I bought a bouquet of heart shaped Mylar balloons for them. I'll put a sweet, homemade card into each of their lunch boxes and cut their sandwiches into heart shapes. That's it...
We did make and decorate cupcakes tonight for their class parties tomorrow as well as chocolat heart lollipops (no one else signed up for the lollipops & I'm the room Mom).

I always give them a little heart basket full of heart stuff that I pick up on clearance the prior year after V-day. I bought the baskets at the dollar store a few years ago. This year I will be giving them each a fluffy heart small pillow, valentine "shrinky dinks", some heart stickers, foam picture frame kits and probably a few other related things. My mom always gave me stuff for V-day so I am keeping up the tradition with my DC.

I ended up getting the BUG-Ums from Hallmark.... they are a little stuffed bug that looks like a ladybug and it zips open in the back so you can stuff it with something small.... i ended up putting a pack of stickers and a candy in it.
It's meant so you can fill it anytime you want to do sometihng special (according to the commercial).. .and it gives ideas on how to "bug-em".
My son saw the commercial and wanted it - and i saw TONS of them at kohls 2 weeks ago. WELL - finally got back there to get it and they were gone! So i went to the Hallmark store - AND BOUGHT THE LAST ONES!

I don't have anything planned either. I thought I was going to have to work all day today and then I wouldn't even see the kids. But I don't have to go in so now I have a free day without kids and thought I'd try to pick up something small for them. Maybe a book and alittle bit of candy.
My parents gave them a small heart shaped box of Godiva chocolates last week and then came over last night and gave them some heart shaped cookies. They were so excited and now I want to make them that happy!!

dd1(14) mentioned that she might like a.....pilllow pet?!?!?!
both of the little ones have them, so, I guess she will be getting one of those and some chocolates for her.
dd2(4) will get the new minnie mouse dvd I picked up last week and some chocolates, maybe some stickers.
dd3(2) will be getting a valentine's day themed Mrs. Potato Head and Valentine Elmo coloring book, both of which I picked up last year eos. And, some chocolates..what the heck..
At our house, the kids get a visit from the Valentine Monkey! He's a very sneaky sort...sometimes he climbs through the car window and leaves his treats, other times he'll leave them on the front porch before the girls get home. :)
