View Full Version : Should I get another stroller?

I have a 2010 BJCM which I like a lot. I love the push, the fold, the sun shade and the weight. DD (10 months) was fine in it until recently, but is now getting antsy with the recline and wants to be more upright to look around. I put the cardboard in the back to make the seat firmer, but she is still leaning back and unhappy so I end up carrying her for a lot of the trip (and she is HEAVY).
We use the stroller regularly but not religiously, just for trips to the mall or for a walk (on good condition side walks) to the play ground in our complex when it is warm. So I woulld say we use it once a week. The other factor to consider is that DH and I are getting ready to TTC #2, so I'm not sure it is worth it to get a new stroller now, when we will probably need a double in the near future. So is there a quick fix for my BJCM? Should I start shopping for a new stroller (and if so, which one)? Or should I sit tight and wait until we (hopefully) have baby #2?

Do you have a belly bar for the BJCM? I have a 2009 Vista, (the one where the seat doesn't come completely upright) and when DS was younger and he wanted to ride upright, he'd just pull himself forward using the belly bar. That may be an easier solution. Or you could try sticking a small pillow between her and the seat back to make her sit more upright.

You could get a cheap Maclaren Triumph from ebay. Macs always come in handy for travel.

:yeahthat: I was gonna suggest an umbrella like a Mac triumph or Uppa G-luxe. They are more upright and have better visibility (because the seat is not as deep) and you might end up loving them for quick trips & travel. If canopy is important the G-luxe is better in that department.

I don't have the belly bar, but was considering getting it. I might try that first. I am worried that this might just be a desire to buy more baby gear since I enjoy it way too much :love-retry: I know DH will have an absolute fit when/if I tell him that i am thinking about buying another stroller.

Do you know anyone that has a belly bar that you could borrow- and see if that makes a difference? What about buying the belly bar - trying it and if it doesn't make a difference, you can return it?
If it were me, I probably would not buy another stroller because it sounds like you are going to be needing a double soon... unless you can find one cheap on craigslist or on clearance or something.
I ordered a belly bar with my $10 Amazon baby coupon... it's supposed to come today.. yay

You can get a new one under $100 on the ebay store or if you are not comfortable with buying from them albee and BRU has good prices and some you can pm with diapers so if you want to return them it will be easier/free.

I would not waste money on a bellybar, but that is just me! ;)

Get a triumph and belly bar from diapers.com. Return the one that doesn't work for you. Returns could not possibly be easier when using diapers.com.

Cute! Or this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Maclaren-Triumph-Coffee-Pink-Bubbles-2009-Stroller-New-/260673339037?pt=Strollers&hash=item3cb1577e9d
But I do think the belly bar can make a difference. I got my BJCM w/the bar when DS was 12 months. I hardly ever use the chest harness, just the crotch buckle. I never thought the seat was too reclined or slumped, but i did put cardboard in the back. Most of the time he sits up and holds on to the bar.

There is a used Triumph that looks in good condition on my Craig's List for $75. It has a navy blue sund shade and a red body. I am asking how old it is. Would that be a good deal?

Does it have the hinge covers? Considering you can get NIB ones off Ebay for under $100 (no Mac warranty though); I think that's a little high. But it depends on just how old it is and how good of shape. If you like it, I would offer less and see if the seller will come down in price at all (~$60).

That is most likely 2005 model year.(blue flag) Now, they might have bought it later than 2005 (older overstock is constantly sold, ebay deals are one example), so it's hard to say without seeing it, how much use the stroller got. Good thing is, that maclarens are sturdy, and hold up really well. Still, I would probably offer under 75, but I have to see it first, plus it's good to know, if the rain cover comes with it or not.

It does have a rain cover. I might go check it out. We will see whether or not DH's head explodes when I bring it up.
