DD1's teacher is due with her first in a month.

I think that the kids should do something just not sure what. Is having them make a card enough?

If you could find a time to ask the kids their best baby care advice and either film it or write the answers down, I bet it would be a hit. The kids did this in 1st grade when ds1's teacher was getting married and the answers were fantastic. I'd imagine baby ones could be even more entertaining. :)

You could ask families to send in one small item and assemble a gift basket. It could be an item for the baby or the teacher (like a yummy non perishable snack).

When the assistant in DS1's 1st grade class was due with her first class, all the parents chipped in for a gift card. She was due in the summer so it was sort of a combined baby/end of year gift. The kids may have made a card too? I can't remember that part.

I love the baby care advice idea - so cute!

What if each child contributed a copy of their favorite book so that the new baby could have an instant library? Seems appropriate for the child of a teacher :).

LOVE this idea! the technology aspect of video scares me but I could do a book. Thanks!

DS1's K teacher had a baby last year. We all chipped in for a BRU gift card.

My students did make a book with their suggestions on taking care of a baby/raising a baby- awesome! Anyone who wanted to also gave a book that had been one of their favorites. Just the book the kids made would have been enough!

I was a teacher in a private school (elementary) before becoming a SAHM and I was given a baby shower by my class. I was given individual gifts from each student in addition to snacks and cake that the students enjoyed. I would have been happy with a creative idea of a video or book. I have also heard of friends who have received a gift card from the class as well. Any of the ideas are great and any teacher would be appreciative with any of them.

My class went all out!! Two moms worked with the art teacher over a couple months to help each kid make a quilt square of their face then put them all together. It is amazing and is the only decorative item on DD's walls. They also did a baby showed and a book.

Hopefully some will be babysitters soon!
