We have a Maestro as an extra seat. We recently used it for vacation/flying and I just had to install it in a loaner while mine is getting fixed. We are having a hard time getting a good solid install. Are there any tips? It just keeps moving side to side. I finally got it so it would move less than an inch but it still moves enough to make me nervous. What am I doing wrong? We've tried latch and seatbelt and seatbelt is the only way I can make it safe enough to use.

What car are you installing in?

I've installed our Maestro -- with both seatbelt and LATCH -- in several cars and fairly easily gotten it in tight enough to satisfy me. This ease of install is one of the reason I like this seat. (uninstalling is harder. At least with LATCH)

I am installing the MAestro in a captain's seat in our van and recline the seat behind it while I attach the LATCH, then bring the seat back up to upright position.

Is it possible the LATCH adjuster is getting caught in the belt path? You might need to pull the cover back, and pull the LATCH tail tight through the front of the seat, through the belt path, rather than pulling it out sideways on the side. Same trick might work with the belt, pulling the shoulderbelt up at the buckle side, to get the lapbelt really tight, usually with a knee in the seat helps.

Thanks! The thought that something was getting stuck did cross my mind but I wasn't sure how to check. I'll try that. I literally sat in the seat to get it tight enough where I felt semi comfortable. I'm sure the men at the car dealership thought it was quite comical!

This may be part of the problem too. We have installed in a Nissan and right now it's in an Infiniti which is made by Nissan. Maybe the seat just isn't a good fit for those cars.

This seat is exactly the same shape as the Chase/Visions/Express that have been out for 10+ years now, and I don't recall any incompatibility issues except for an ancient Forerunner, I think it's just a steep learning curve. You'll get it :)
