View Full Version : Which Corelle dishes do you have?

We stumbled into the outlet today, and if you buy 20 pieces, you get 50% off open stock. I hadn't planned on buying any, but we keep running out of plates (some big thick ones from BBB) if we're having company over. I think having service for 16 would be good for us for the longterm.
Anyway, we're plain, and I like the Dazzling White (http://www.amazon.com/Corelle-Dazzling-White-16-pc-Dinnerware/dp/B004RBWYSE), which is different from the Frost White (http://www.amazon.com/Corelle-Livingware-16-Piece-Dinnerware-Service/dp/B0000DASUA/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1306636319&sr=1-1) that is everywhere. The bowls seem easier to use, the plates look like restaurant plates, etc. Anyway, I'd like to get a better sense of what others have/use since the sale is on the open stock stuff. We don't need 16 mugs, maybe 4. I can pick out exactly what we will use. Which pieces do you find useful?

I bought 12 dinner plates and 12 salad plates once on a great clearance. They didn't have bowls or mugs available to match my set but I liked the deeper/bigger bowls that we already had with our previous set anyways.
We do use our large and small plates all the time--they're our everyday plates. I find that it's really nice to have the smaller size--I oftentimes grab for that because it's nice to serve a snack on it or to heat something smaller on it, and they then don't take as much space in the dishwasher. It also doubles the number of plates we have to 24 and there are times when all 24 get dirty in a day, depending on what we have going on.

We have the Enhancements pattern. It's solid white but the rim has a little swirl pattern to it. We also have miscellaneous pieces of the winter frost white. I love my corelle dishes and we use them all the time. I actually prefer them over my "nicer" dishes.

We have white, but I really don't know which one. We have 10 dinner plates, 10 lunch plates, 4 bowls and 4 dessert plates.
Sometimes I wish we had a few more bowls and dessert plates (I don't use them for dessert, just for really small sides or snacks). I also don't need 10 dinner plates (we have another set we use for company) but I love the lunch plates and sometimes run out of them.
I hate the Corelle mugs, so I would never buy a set.
We have the square white dishes (sorry can't remember the name of the pattern). We started out with 8 (each) dinner plates, salad plates and bowls. A few months ago I realized that we kept running out of plates for our meals, so I went to the outlet and bought 4 more of each place setting. My DH does the dishes and loves how easy it is to load the dishwasher and overall how light they are. I didn't buy the set because personally I didn't really need the mugs, so the outlet was a great place to buy them.
ETA: I also have the "Simply Lite" serving dishes. LOVE them!!!! Our outlet had these as well.

WTG, I'm so glad you posted this...I really want Corelle dishes, and I just called the outlet near me and they are running the same promotion. I so much rather buy open stock because like PP's mentioned, I don't want the mugs. I'd rather get more plates for the money. Hoping to go this afternoon!
We have two sets of each of these:
Chocolate mint (round)
Pretty pink (squares)
For four years I really wanted the "luncheon" size of chocolate mint, and couldn't bring myself to pay open stock prices. No corelle stores near me. I finally just bought them on a 4 for 3 promotion for the corelle website (basically made up for shippint), and I couldn't be happier.
We went with Corelle because they are lighter weight (for when older folks are visitng and helping with dishes) and because they do stack so nicely.
BTW I thought we wouldn't use the mugs but it turns out we do.

I have frost white, I originally bought 3 sets of the 4 place setting (so 12 all together), and it suits our family of five well, where I'm not running out of dishes, but also not having an excessive amt. It's like the traditional corelle, which I like, b/c it stacks up in a smaller amt of space. Corelle also has a line that is thicker, like traditional plates, I am not sure if it's made out of glass like the traditional stuff or not.

we have sandstone and i love it. we have the big plates, the lunch plates and the little ones, maybe they are meant to be saucers i don't know but we use them for small things. i have a big extended family and i wanted to be able to have everyone over and not use paper plates. i think we have 27 big, maybe 8 or 10 lunch, and 8 or 10 littles. i love the pasta bowls, they are great for serving as well as pasta. the plates actually make good (though loose) tops or bottoms to the various plates and bowls for storing leftovers. i also bought a few plastic lids that fit on the soup and i think the cereal bowls. those bowls are great too. we have a platter, a medium size bowl and a large bowl. the sandstone actually complements our china so i can use them together if i have a really big group. there is something called transferware for when they are changing production fro white to sandstone or vice versa. so if you don't want that be careful when you are picking it out.
today i made french toast and served it in a pasta bowl. i just slapped a lunch plate on top to put the leftovers in the fridge. you can also put the leftovers on a big plate and turn the pasta bowl upside down on top of it. it's very versatile!

I have the dots pattern, bought as a set of 16 on a great Amazon sale. I love the large and small plates (very small, prob dessert?). I also really like the bowls, but the mugs are a total waste (they're stoneware). I'd like to get some smaller bowls for things like berries, nuts, etc., and some larger bowls for big salads/pasta, etc. I'd also like some luncheon plates. I'd love to get plain white next time. I like that dazzling wt. you linked to.

I went and bought 2 sets- the dazzling white, and the secret garden set. I am so excited! Thanks again WTG for posting. I never would have known about the promotion.
