Do you guys have problems with neighborhood fireworks waking your kids? They've been going off for several days already! This is going to be a long weekend. Any tips on getting her to sleep through the festivities?

Hmmm...sorry they're waking up your baby. I think my kids must be very deep sleepers because we always have a lot of fireworks around this time of year in our neighborhood and it has never woken any of them up.

We start up the white noise- in our case a small stand fan. It drowns it out pretty good.

We've never had a problem either and people in Washington take their fireworks very seriously. That said, the girls do go to bed fairly late anyways so I'm sure that helps.

Maybe making sure that the baby is really asleep before they start? My kids are generally ok if they are asleep before the fireworks start, but it is much harder to fall asleep with all that racket. Also, is there a room in the house that might be quieter that your baby would be willing to sleep in?
The white noise that PP mentioned seems like a good idea.

Yeah, we always put ours to bed early anyways but it seems like if they have been asleep for several hours it doesn't seem to wake them up unless they are the kind that shake the house--a professional show. We use sounds machines all of the time so that helps buffer out the noise.

Using white noise helps us block out all kinds of loud noises over here!

This is one reason I have been thankful that consumer fireworks have been illegal in Maine! When I was a kid I hated it, but as an adult I like it. Unfortunately, it looks like our Senate and House just today approved a bill to legalize them as a means of revenue. :( In your position, I would definitely use a white noise type device to help drown out the noise.

We live near our area fireworks (about 2 blocks) and shockingly the kids never wake up. I often have their in window AC running but even still it is LOUD. But they sleep through.

It's kinda odd, but fireworks have never woken my kids, even Laurel when she was a really bad sleeper.

I think I spoke too soon... she started waking from them but then didn't actually wake up all the way. Hopefully it won't be a problem when they become more frequent. She's a pretty sound sleeper so hopefully that will help.
