View Full Version : My new favorite line is . . .
. . . "I may be cheap but I'm not free" :) I was listening to the radio on the way home from an appointment.

I grew up with salsa/merengue and hip hop but have adopted my husband's country roots like a proper foreigner - with sarcasm and a picky ear but I love it even when I tease him about it.
This is another one I'm loving lately. It's an oldie but I love it nonetheless:

eta: Oh goodness I didn't know about the bleeped expletive at the end so warning. Thank goodness they play the clean version on the radio but I'll bet the FCC had something to say about the TV performance.

I used to serve tables at LoneStar Steakhouse and every so often we'd all have to sing parts of that song. This definitely brings back some memories.
"I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison." LOL. Awesome.

Ah, that one brings back memories of seeing David Allan Coe at the Georgia Theatre in college. So fun to sing along when you are a little tipsy.

:yeahthat: DH is from Houston, Texas. He's a Texan through and through. When we moved to Minnesota he flew a huge Texas flag on the flagpole in our yard.
Growing up in Wisconsin, my dad listened to country music on the radio when we'd go camping (which I think was every weekend of my life until I was 16), so I know the words to all the country music popular in the 70's and early 80's. But the radio station we listened to didn't play much David Allen Coe. After marrying DH, though, I can now sing right along with all the words to those songs. A skill I'm very proud of when we're down in Texas. :tongue5:
And thanks, Penny's Papa, cuz now I have that dang song stuck in my head, "you never even call me by my name....."
Wow, and just like that I am back in college...all tipsy on cheap beer! Thanks guys! :p
