What do you do?
SIL does some cute stuff. She has a guest book at the hospital and later at her home. She gets lollipops that say "Its a girl". She has "the baby" bring gifts for each existing child.
I'd love to hear your ideas!
My only "tradition" is that I buy some really beautiful pajamas to wear at the hospital. I'm vain and I like being fully made up and pretty to receive my visitors. :) I also LOVE my hospital room to be filled with flowers!

With DD1 I bought pjs and I don't think I wore them much, only when I went to the nursing boutique and to have some xrays taken of my legs. I also did bring my makeup bag and wore makeup. With DD2 I pretty much stayed in the hospital gown covered with my robe the whole time. I brought my makeup again but didn't wear it. With DD1 I was only in the hospital about 36 hrs. after delivery so I didn't really have to spend that much time in the hospital, however I know that if I was having a c-section or had to stay longer than 48 hrs I think I would've made sure I was really comfy. One thing I forgot with DD2 was my pillow. Don't forget that!:)
I didn't have a large amount of visitors (most of my family lives in Northern Cal) and with DD2 there could be no visitors under the age of 13 due to it being flu season (it was May, WTH?!!!) so just my sister, my DH, and DH's uncle came to visit. Double check with your Kaiser what the guest policy is too. I was pretty irked that they wouldn't let DD1 come and visit. She would've loved it.
I got flowers both times, just a boquet or two.
With DD1 I also made it through the entire stay in the hospital not having a single photo of myself taken (and honestly I was quite proud of that!). Didn't happen with DD2, but thankfully I can delete them.
The only tradition we had was the older child(ren) would get a toy from the new baby (and kept them busy in the hospital room once they were bored with the new baby, lol). The older brother(s) gave the new baby a stuffed animal (which we picked out together to be their loveys).

Thanks for sharing, guys. Those are great!
Annie, I was told during my most recent tour that visitors are okay--siblings are okay but no other kids (didn't listen to the age--the oldest in my circle is 11). We are CLEARLY not in flu season right now. I'd be SO sad if DSs couldn't visit us in the hospital although I know they make those rules to be safe!

Which Kaiser are you having your baby at? Just wondering bc I'll be at Kaiser Oakland again this time. I'm still undecided on DS visiting in the hospital, depends how long I need to be in there.
I like the gifts to/from the baby idea. Shopping for that now.

I went to a cool kids store and had a gift basket made up for my older 3. I gave it to my mom and she had it in her car when she brought us home from the hospital. I was happy I gave it to them then, because they were jumping all over me and I just needed to pass out in my bed. It was a great distraction.
