I haven't been online much since our computer is screwed up, using the iPhone got old.

I did a search but all I got, that I can do, is vacuum the heck out of the couch, wash pet beds, gave pup another long flea bath. Did the full 5 minutes, DH did it last week and probably rinsed it right off.

I need some suggestions! I can at least keep up with this thread via email notifications. I don't want to do anything harsh to the house, no chemicals.

TIA for any advice! I've never really had this before, but DS fell asleep on the couch and woke with 3 bites. I feel horrIble. I didn't think about it being fleas, but I have 2 on my leg. This sucks!

Get some food-grade diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it behind all the furniture, outside doorways, and in cracks and crevices. We get it at a local hardware store or "green" pet store. You can also buy it online. It really works great for inside the home. You may want to consider getting the yard sprayed though if the fleas are outside. I just did it for the first time as an absolute last resort, but it worked.

Vacuum thoroughly every day - hardwoods included - for two weeks.
Fleas suck, but they're common. Don't feel too bad, happens to most all pet owners at some point.

We've used diatomaceous earth in the past as well. We had one year where we ended up with fleas in the house and it worked well. I'd sprinkle it on the carpets downstairs before we went to bed and then would vacuum up in the morning. I kept the kids off of it until I was ready to vacuum.

make sure you don't breath this in.

1) Wash everything using BORAX.

2) Sprinkle borax in all carpets and upholstered furniture. DO NOT USE ON MATTRESSES. Wait a couple of hours, vaccumm THOROUGHLY.

3) Take aluminum pie pans (just get the disposable kind) and put borax or dish washing liquid in the bottom. Get the cheap-o nightlights for each room. Place pan under nightlights at night. In the morning, you will have dead fleas in the pans. (Make sure the rest of the room is as dark as possible so they go to the light).

Wow, that is really tough. My lil bro used to tell me the best non-chemical way to get rid of fleas is vacuum vacuum, vacuum. Not just the dog beds, but everywhere.

How do you feel about Comfortis? I've heard pretty amazing things about it.

Lysol will dehydrate them (apparently), and then they die. We also put a flea collar in the vacuum (we have a bagless, so we put it in the bottom of that), so that they die when they are vacuumed up.

I vacuumed everyday for like 4-6 weeks last year...getting as many joints by the floor and walls...and spots behind furniture and what not. It was exhausting since I don't normally move furniture around that much to vacuum. I also did the Borax on the carpet treatment. I threw all throw pillows and stuffed animals int he dryer too. Washed all sheets and blankets. And since DD was the victim of the bites everything around her bed.

It did help as we saw less bug bites on DD assuming she had flea bites.

Thanks everyone!! I described the spots to DH like whelps, he got home and agreed it did look like an alergic reaction. We don't know what he got in contact with, but they are almost gone now thankfully!

Good thing, my couches, rugs and floors got a deep vaccuming! My dog seems much happier after her bath :).
