We have a Colgate Classica I firm mattress. DS1 (2.5 years) loves it. I have created a monster though, because he will.not.sleep at all on a soft mattress.

I need to get an inexpensive FIRM mattress to leave at my sister's house.

Are there others that are as firm but cost closer to $50? He will sleep on it maybe 5-10 nights a year but man...those are 10 miserable nights if he doesn't sleep!

And...DS2 is only 4 months but he's got the same mattress, so this could be used for him in years to come.

Thank you!!

We have been very happy with the Kolcraft mattress we got for DD1 in 2006. If I had to buy new today I'd buy this one from Kolcraft (http://www.amazon.com/Kolcraft-Pure-Sleep-Therapeutic-Mattress/dp/B004HKK5TK) because we have had absolutely no problems with our mattress. We bought ours from a baby store as their private label.

Well, we got a coil mattress by Sealy from Target 2 yrs ago and it is noticably firmer than the hand-me-down that I got from a friend. I know it has 204 coils.

It's a bit more expensive ($80 - Although I swear we paid $70 when we got ours). I think it is one of these two:

Thank you both for the suggestions. I'll try to find them and check them out before buying. The firmer the better as far as he's concerned!

If anyone else has any suggestions, let me know.

Thanks!

I'm a huge fan of foam vs coil. Lighter weight but still firm. Even wear too.

The one we have isn't made anymore but this looks comparable.

I bought a very firm foam Safety First mattress at walmart for $40. We've been very happy with it.

Ooh! Thank you both. That Safety First one looks pretty good...firm and not too $$$. I'll definitely check it out.
