Otherwise i'd post in around the house!

Has anyone had success w/ the Ikea gates for top of stairs?

We want one that's well-rated, easy to use but mostly easiest to install/assemble. We got a kidco from Amazon that was missing parts; we bought one in lowe's today that's mostly metal but all plastic connectors.

We used to have the Evenflo Top of Stairs and loved it.i see it was recalled but the new one is Top of Stairs Plus..maybe i should just get that.

What do you use for the bottom of the steps with a banister on each side? DS2 is a VERY good climber of the stairs and i'm teaching him how to get down...but of course he's only 13 months!

We used Kidco gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. We used a hardware installed Kidco at the top of the stairs and a suspension gate at the bottom of the stairs. Since DS bedroom was a foot away from the top of the stairs we also wound up installing a extra-tall Kidco suspension gate in the doorway to DS room as well. We had an elderly cat that couldn't navigate jumping over the stair gate and the extra-tall doorway gate kept DS in his room at naptime and bedtime.

Probably too late, but we use the Kidco K12 kits (one for each side) at the bottom of our stairs. (FYI even though it says no drilling, DH did end up needing the drill to install these.) We have the Kidco G20c at the bottom and the G80c or d (can't remember the letter) at the top of the stairs. It is angled such that it creates a bit of a landing before we open the gate to walk thru.
