The best deal there is is to use what you already have. Take a look... http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/homemadebabyfoodtools.htm.

P.S. That website is great for telling you when you can feed what as well as instructions on how to cook each item.

Alternatively, check your local craigslist for a used Beaba. You may find something in an "almost new" condition at a substantial discount. The "baby puree period" is very short (ours was 2.5 months, I think). Some people would buy a new Beaba, use it for 2-3 months and put it on craigslist. You can then resell it for a similar price.

Honestly, through, a regular steamer and a blender is just as easy.

I made everything in a Magic Bullet which worked great.

Agree with PP's. DH likes to tell his friends: If you can make a margarita, you can make babyfood. You can steam using a regular pot or baking sheet. You can use any blender or food processor.

I would spend the $ on storage like OXO covered ice cube trays or Baby Cubes or even any small containers. If you really want to spend the $ on specialized prep-ware, I've seen the baby magic bullet at Kohl's and you can usually find coupons and discounts there.

I saw two baby food steamers/blenders on deep clearance at TJ Maxx for only $20 today! I didn't pay attn to the brand, since I'm way past that stage with my kids, but def check out your TJM, Marshalls and homegoods if you are looking for a product like this. Personally, I think it would be easier to make use of a kitchen appliance that can do other things other than just baby food (space hog), but if you find one for cheap, it's probably worth it for the price.

I have a Beaba, and I liked how easy it was to use and how little washing up there was. I think most food processor bowls are made of BPA-containing plastics, so I wasn't prepared to use my Cuisinart mini food processor unless I cooled the food completely first. The Beaba was also a lot quieter than my mini food processor, another plus for me given I was trying to keep the noise down while DD was sleeping. I know I could have just bought a stick blender, but this was so easy and I figured I would sell it again later to recoup most of the cost.
