Ok, things are getting a tiny bit heated in that other thread ;) so tell me why you like hanging out here.
My reasons have changed over time. Currently, I love:
The awesome clothing/shoe deals for ME!
Great kitchen appliance recs
Awesome advice for issues with both of my kids as they get older
Addictive Christmas shopping threads (not to mention the Amazon monster)!
Great recs for new products: pre de Provence, elta MD, splendid, etc.
And I will admit it, controversial threads. They keep things interesting! :tongue5:

Diversity
support
well educated, well rounded individuals who can give intelligent advice
no matter what question you have, there is likely someone on here who has answer!
an excuse to talk about my kiddos :)

I find that I come here less frequently for parenting/kid advice (although I do still ask for it occasionally) and more just for the random fun threads and answers to questions about anything under the sun (y'all knew how to get a bloodstain out of my couch!). I like that I feel like I'm part of a group here.
(Although I'm not so sure about it being a Bargains group. I've spent more money on stuff you guys have recommended than I ever would have spent without your help finding cool things, lol.)

I loved that Amazon thread at Christmas time! So many great finds! I also am so happy I found about Splendid on here. I also love that I can be my bargain-hunting self here :)

Smart folks who can discuss small and large topics with grace and kindness to all opinions.
Funny ladies (and a few gents).

I can ask any question and someone will try to help me.
I like reading different views and opinions. I know things can get heated sometimes, but I like to know what others think and why. It may not change my opinion, but it has opened my mind to other viewpoints.

Smart, intelligent, caring and a lot of fun - what's not to love :)
What thread? Now I'm curious...

What don't I love?! :D
I love the support and perspective that come from this community.
I like a lot of you better than some of my IRL friends, sometimes!
I agree with Stacy that I can't quite qualify this as a "bargains" board, because of all the money I wind up spending on fabulous things that I never knew I needed but couldn't live without once I had them...
And I must have my head in the sand about a heated thread too...

Before BBB, I thought it was strange that people could meet and fall in love with someone on line. Now, that clearly hasn't happened for me, but I understand it because I've met some of my closest friends here-- some of whom I'm never met IRL. Maybe that makes me sound like a sad-o, but it's true.
I love that I can come here to ask questions about almost any topic, and there is a breadth of experience to tap. I know which posters I really respect, and which ones I take with a grain of salt. I've learned a lot from people here.
And I love the controversial threads. Debate is fun.

I learn so much about different lifestyles, opinions, products..everything. It broadens my view of the world and I learn about life outside of my community and our way of doing things.

My biggest love, is that when I am having a panick-y parenting moment, I can come here for calming and helpful advice without having to go to very-scary google. And even if I need instant prayers, I know you guys can come through. Having that kind of support at your fingertips is amazing!
I also love the funny, silly threads. I love "My favorite things" threads, and all the holiday threads about gifts, and "Christmas Hits", etc. Bargain threads, OF COURSE! Although, I really have to cut back, we are trying to go into "save" mode now.
I love that we all put a lot of thought into our families and can discuss them together. I love that, usually, there is no judgment, but acceptance and support even in difficult times.
I love that when I changed my siggie, I got congratulations that same day! And so many people were excited because you guys knew how much I wanted to have another one and the fact that you KNOW me here, is so neat!
I know some people think it's kind of lame to have such an active online persona, but, really, who wouldn't want this kind of support, advice, and consistent humor to turn to at the end of the day?

I love that people are willing to answer even my dumbest questions. I love that when I moved away from my home state in the dead of winter with two housebound infants there was someone I could "talk" to 24 hours a day. I luv that u don't use 2 much txt speech. I love that it's mostly self policing. I love that the mods ferret out spammers.
I also love the Amazon Christmas thread (so, so much!), all the boot threads, and the funny polls. And the cool products I never would have heard of if not for you all. And the awesome deals!

I love you guys! lol
Seriously, I can't add much to what's already been said, except that this group has held my hand from birth to child psychologist, laughed with me, cried with me, and helped me keep things in perspective.
I love that everyone jumps in a thread to express concern for someone who's going through something hard. I think we get a wide range of thoughtful advice, which (though sometimes contradictory) always adds a nuance to consider to any issue.
Except Christmas presents. That Christmas present thread puts me over the edge into "must. shop. now!" pathology. ;)

I also love that people don't have gigantic photo signatures. The message board I was on when I was pg with ds2 was a nightmare that way! People with multiple, large photos of their family and lots of oversharing info (really don't need to know what day you POAS). I'm so glad that either the software here doesn't allow it or people just don't do it.

I love that you can ask a question about any topic and you get intelligent replies.
I like hearing varied opinions....I have certainly changed my thoughts on various topics based on some of the thoughtful, insightful posts.
I think, BY FAR, this is the most respectful boards I have ever been on.

So many of your responses I could just :yeahthat: to, but I'll try to write my own.
1. I've made wonderful friends.
2. Amazing and unconditional support
3. a safe place to ask questions and get advice
4. SMART SMART SMART moms and dads
5. I just feel like I KNOW you guys
6. I've learned a lot and have opened my mind about many things, thanks to many of you
I'm very thankful for the BBB. It makes my RL even better.

I have learned so much from you all. I love that everyone is so helpful, from giving parenting advice to helping someone find the right boots. I love how thoughtful and polite most of the posters are. I love the sheer breadth of different topics that come up. Of course, I love the bargains threads!

I love that I can come here, feeling like I am the only person on earth going through something, only to discover many wonderful parents who have been through it already, and lived to tell about it! I love the generously shared advice and support!

I love that I can be a big dork here some days and still be welcomed back :)
I love what I've learned about fashion. My 'mom uniform' is 100% better off thanks to you-all.
I love that I have a place to land when I'm lost.
- Everyone here is knowledgeable, truly concerned about doing the best for their DC, are not spend-thrifty and love to share.
- I've seen so many long detailed responses, wherein it's clear the poster took time to respond clearly and with as much information as possible
- People are so respectful. Yes some threads get heated but still are always respectful. No name calling for the BBBers!
- We have an equal mix of informational threads and fun threads.
- Newbies ask the same questions that have been asked before (as I was a newbie once) and still get plenty of detailed and respectful answers. Never "go look it up". To be honest not all questions can be looked up. Keyword searches sometimes retrieve way too many results to wade through.
- I love how much I've learned here, gotten book recommendations, websites, and mainly answers.
- I love reading other threads for which my DC are too young right now, but I know I'll use this knowledge later.
- I love that most people know their grammar and do not use text speak, as a PP said. :D

Oh, this is so true. I think the fact that people will take the time to respond really makes newbies feel welcome. People are very helpful with others learning the ways of the BBB.

I love all the points of view, many of which I have adopted as my own! And I still love reading about those ideas I disagree with because the vast majority of posters are so smart and articulate, that it still really gets me thinking. I love the community aspect.
I also love the amazon threads! And I too have been finding some great things for myself lately, and not just for the kids. Strollers, politics, discipline, crock pot cooking ........ This is the first place I turn to in order to get great info on just about everything!

I love the BBB community. A bunch of smart moms (& a few dads) who give their input & advice to help me & others through this crazy ride called life. I love that I have been introduced to some great products & important concepts here (extended RF, aiden & anais, Sophie, I could go on & on.) I love the bargains, I love input on clothes for me, I love parenting advice. I love hearing that I'm not alone - there are others are intimidated about TTC for #2 like I am right now, there are others dealing with the same 2 year old tantrums that I am, there are others who want to function as a SAHM but look good while doing it. :)
When I WOTH I would bounce things off my co-workers. Once I started SAH, that's what I missed the most, but now I have that here from all of you! :)
DH & I are getting ready to take DD on her 1st plane trip & he insisted that it was foolish to take her carseat on the plane, until I told him that's what the majority of people on the BBB do. :) It's good to have the strength of the BBB behind us.
Oh, and not to leave out, I love the mass of support that people get when they need it most. Such a good-hearted group of people that truly care. :applause:
