As I've mentioned before I've been wanting one forever. When my Dad asked if I wanted anything for this new baby, I mentioned a double so I can walk with my two youngest to and from school pickup. He sent me a check and I bought a gorgeous beauty off of craigslist (for $350 with a UV cover and a rain cover)!
I got a black 2009 MBUD that looks BRAND NEW! According to the owner she only used it 5 times--kids aged out.
I plan to use it a lot more and what's more it will live on my (covered) balcony. Right now I have a giant beach towel that covers all the upholstery. I'm hoping that will prevent fading. We don't get a ton of moisture but the balcony is not impermeable from rains.
Any other tips for keeping this thing pristine? I'm really so so happy with it. I like it as much as I had "imagined" I would or more!! :)
TIA,
Jen

Can you keep it elsewhere? It will get rust if it gets rained on.
I would recommend keeping it on a covered/closed off area - like a garage or basement. I would never leave it out in the sun so it does not fade. Wipe it off immediately if the kids eat in it or get it dirty. If you need to wash the fabrics, do so on gentle cycle, no detergent or very gentle detergent and air dry.
I would dry it off if it gets really wet to avoid rust.
Enjoy your MB!

I would maybe see if a grill cover would work to keep it dryer and protected from the sun.
If that's your best storage option (and trust me, I know--my first bob lived outside and got put in the tiny living room at night or if it rained because there just weren't other options), I'd see about getting a tarp or something to keep the rain off.

Don't forget to regularly clean and lube the wheels, and any moving part of the frame.

A tarp won't do it. We've had a tarp over our BJ triple, and it has faded a LOT. Maybe a car cover for a very small car?

I think this sounds like a great idea!

Hmm, I have a neighbor who uses a tarp over a Bob double and it isn't faded (surprising since bobs are so prone to fading). Maybe it's because the sun so seldom makes it through the fog here. :hysterical:

Oh, maybe a motorcycle cover?
