I just got an email from Amazon telling me my benefits were about to expire, so I should join Prime for $79. So looks like there will be no extension. :( I had a paid Prime membership before, but free was nicer. ;)

At least this way I'll have lots of free movies to stream.

Totally stinks. Mine runs out November 1st. :( Right before all the fun Christmas deals begin! That's my favorite time of year here on the BBB :D.

I just signed DH up for Amazon mom so we will run out right after Christmas (assuming we don't make any baby purchases). I need to look into the streaming videos in case that is worth buying it though.

Do they still allow people to sign up for Amazon mom? So, if DH did it when DC2 comes around, we could have free prime through him?

Yes, I just signed DH up yesterday for the first time. I guess there are no guarantees it will continue to be available and I wanted something yesterday so I signed him up.

:yeahthat:

And I've already made 2 purchases that will extend it an additional 3 months beyond the 3 month trial.

Just beware that in order to EXTEND prime by making "Mom" purchases, they have to be made by the primary person. I.E. Your DH. any other purchases can be made in your account if you don't want your DH to see what you buy (like me :bag) after you accept his Prime invitation its just that your purchases wont extend Prime.

Amazon seems to allow 4 co-workers, at 4 different addys, to be on one Prime account so I think I am going to get my sisters to pitch in with me to cover the $79. Co-workers...sisters...I'm going to check in with them soon to be sure this will work. We all shop there frequently so Amazon won't be losing out by any means.

I just called and spoke to 'Irish'. It would work this way, one primary member has the account and all the invitees have one common address (the business) and when you order your items, using your own form of payment, you can ship them anywhere. I posed the question that many companies have satellite offices... so I guess that your UPS guy would now think your home had a business too which would might mean we'd get our packages earlier in the day? It seems wrong for Amazon to offer this only for coworkers....but whatever works for us and them I guess....
I'm going to wait and see if I get any offers from them but if not, I'm going to try it.

I wonder if Amazon would be willing to offer some sort of discount for Amazon moms for a yr membership, if they knew how many moms on this site alone really want to continue prime membership if given some sort of discount??

It would be nice if they upgraded Amazon Mom members to full Prime membership at 1/2 the cost like they did for Amazon Student members.

I think, but I'm not sure, that you can sign up, and if you cancel before the end of the 12 month period, you get a pro-rated amount back. If so, you can sign up and cancel after the Christmas shopping season and get a big portion of your money back. But I would double check this before you sign up if you plan on doing this.

What annoys me is that we will be losing the extra 15% for diapers and other baby necessities. Not cool.

Are you sure about that? I don't know one way or the other, but my email just said my free shipping benefits would run out, it didn't mention any other benefits.

Oh! I must have misunderstood. If the 15% extra off is still on then I am less annoyed :)

Does anyone know if you can just create a new account?
