I want my dds to go to private school. Not because the public school they attend is 'bad' in the least it's just I want then to have the experience I had in a private school environment. Financial aid is minimal for the lower grades and we are looking at $50,000 a year to send both of them.
DH isn't on board and I'm not sure it is even remotely possible financially. Just bummed out.

Have you looked at parochial schools? Most are not $25,000 a pop, more like $6-12K a student if you are not members of the parish.

Not really...they are all about the same.
It's about 20,000 per dd and that doesn't include fees. I know it's a lot..that's why I'm so bummed out.

No. While our faith is a huge part of our lives we just never thought about parochial school for them. There is only one near us and it's Catholic..we aren't.

Many non-Catholics go to Catholic school for the educational quality and educational experience. Most Catholic schools in my area would close if only Catholic students attended.

I understand. Just not for us.

I'm sorry. I know that must be so disappointing.

Totally understand. We had a private school that we loved in Texas and we moved to VA where the cost of a comparable school is insane. Big disappointment for us.

I am guessing it is mostly due to the high COL where you are. Our inexpensive parochials are around $5k and the more expensive privates and parochials are around $10. I'm sorry :(

I feel for you. Any chance grandparents can help? Our non-parochial school is $34K per child and the only way we can do it (if we do) is because of extremely generous grandparents.

Bummer. :( I can guess how frustrating that is.

I know this is a BP and you've probably done this already, but have you checked out your district's charter/magnet schools? Dh and I attended private and we would love the closer community and smaller classes private can bring, but we don't care to pay for private tuition. School is years off for our family, but we're hoping for a great charter school so we can experience the best of both worlds.

Anyway, I hope your family finds a wonderful solution!

Thanks guys. I know I shouldn't complain because their school is actually quite highly rated within our state. Just longing.

So sorry! I am right there with you. I really want my boys to go to a private school that right now is $25k for Kindy and escalates to $30k by high school. With inflation and over the years this might approach $500k to finish through high school. :irked: Oh well. I am still sad though because it is a great school.

DH and I send DS to private school. We wish we didn't have to send DS, but the public school in our neighborhood has already said they would not accommodate him. Our choice was to spend $$ on a lawyer to fight the public school or just send DS to an appropriate private school (so either way we were going to have to spend the $$). Thank goodness for financial aid.
