Heated up a breast milk bottle, but baby went out and I didn't need to use it. How long will it last in the refrigerator (re refrigerated) before it needs to be used?

I wish I knew this, too, b/c DC2 randomly refuses bottles when I'm gone and I hate to waste the BM. I will try to reheat and reuse it, but go by the sniff rule - it if smells ok (not spoiled/sour), it's prob alright to use.

My go-to resource on breastfeeding and pumped breastmilk has always been kellymom.com.
The answer "seems to be" yes, you can use it at the next feeding (so what, 2-4 hours later?) but read the current data they cite on the page. It doesn't seem 100% conclusive but I know I hated to dump any of that precious white gold so I did re-use bottles that were warmed at the next feeding.

I've pumped with all my kids so far. I go by the sniff test. The best way I've heard it explained is that reheating doesn't ruin the milk, but like cooking vegetables, the more you heat it, the more it loses some of the nutrients. Most likely to a very minimal level--it doesn't make it not good/spoil.
Trust me, I CERTAINLY was reusing the heated bottle...heck by the time DD turned 1, she was finishing the heated but not finished bottles at the next feeding!
The only stuff I really watched the rules on was the defrosted. But the fresh milk...I definitely pushed some boundaries there... :)
