DS1 has been invited to a birthday party tomorrow. He threw up this morning around 8:00 and has been fine ever since. Should we skip the party tomorrow? If it's ok for us to go, it's a swim party and I have two non-swimmers. Do we arrive in suits? I would have to get in with them but not sure other parents will be swimming? Any thoughts / advice? TIA

24 hour rule, if he seems to be feeling fine. Sometimes getting sick is just a one off and I wouldn't worry. Bathing suits, for sure. There might be some sort of water play they can do. For you, a bathing suit and cover up.

I'd have him go to the party.

As for suits, I'm not sure. I think I'd put him in the suit, since it's easy enough to play in, etc. I'd probably not wear my own. If DS2 is invited and coming too, I'd put him in a suit if he's potty trained and wouldn't if he's not.

I agree with the 24 hour rule; seems like you should be good to go. If you have non-swimmers, I would plan to get in. I couldn't care less if I'm the only parent in a swimsuit if it means keeping my children safe. Now, if there's a really shallow pool where they can stand and be above water I would just watch them carefully and not get in. But I would be prepared for sure. Have fun!!!

Ughh...I have no desire to put on a swimsuit! I guess I'll dress for swimming and hope my guys stick to the bouncy castle. Do I bring their swim vests? Shallow end is 3 ft deep. TIA

It wouldn't hurt to have their vests if you might want them. Better to have them than wish you did. They are older this year and you may find both don't need them too.

You are driving, right? I'd throw the swim vests in the car so you can get them if you need them.

I wouldn't worry about throwing up once, it happens sometimes.

Not sure if it's an option, but is there someone who can watch the younger one so you can take DS1 and focus just on him. I'm sure he's going to want to go in the water and it's pretty hard to handle two kids in the pool. Also, did the invited include siblings (if it's a pool at someone's house it'll get pretty crowded if everyone brings siblings.) I only ask as around here most people don't bring siblings to birthday parties but after reading the BBB it seems to vary by region.

I'd put a swimsuit on, it's hotter than stink here and so there's no way my kids would stay out of the pool.

It was a last minute party and invite was by email. Invite said siblings are welcome. I'm thinking it will be easier just to leave DS2 home with DH. DH isn't great about keeping an eye on the kids and I'll end up wrangling two DC in the pool. Thanks for all the replies. :)
