End of year gift for crossing guard?

Car line is a nightmare at DD’s school, so I park about a half mile away a walk to the school to pick her up. I have to cross a street where no one bothers to look before they turn. About half through the year, the county put a crossing guard at that street. He is so nice and I am happy he is there. I was thinking I should give him a small gift at the end of the school year. Any thoughts?

I always give our crossing guard a Target gift card, usually about $10. I hope that other families do the same so that she is getting a nice collection, but I don't really know. I would give more because she is really the one who makes sure DD gets to school safely every day, but DH is really cheap. So I don't usually spend much on end-of-year gifts.
