Does anyone know where I can find a poem about starting Kindergarten?
My DS1 starts Kindergarten on Tuesday. I would like to find a poem to use in his scrapbook but I can't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can find something?
BTW, I am SO not an emotional person but I'm suddenly having a really hard time with this. Of course, he's super excited and not nervous at all. Any tips on how to help me hold it together Tuesday morning so I can leave him on a positive note? I want his first day of school to be fantastic and fun. We're going to plant a tree that day and have cake to celebrate his first day.
Thanks in advance!
RE: Does anyone know where I can find a poem about starting Kindergarten?
I just read a very cute "story" called "Off to Kindergarten" in the latest Parents mag issue. It's by Tony Johnston, illustrated by Melissa Sweet. Here it is:

It's a little long for a poem, although it reads like one. I would just buy the mag and go to page 294 :-)

This isn't fancy, but at her K orientation, DD received a handout of a song they learned that day:
Kindergarten, Here I Come!
(sung to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star")
Kindergarten, here I come!
I know I'll have lots of fun.
Lots of things to make and do,
Reading, writing, counting, too.
Kindergarten, here I come!
I know I'll have lots of fun.
She's been singing it all summer and it's been *so* cute :)
HTH and good luck! DD doesn't start until after Labor Day.

The Twinkle Twinkle song is cute!
You could also write your own poem using each letter in the word "Kindergarten." For example...
K is for Kindergarten ..............or Knowledge, Kind Teachers
I is for Imagination ..............or Independence
N is for Numbers ..............or Nature, New Friends, Naptime
D is for Drawing ..............or Dream, Discover
E is for Exploring ..............or Excitement, Eager to Learn
R is for Reading ..............or Running
G is for Growing Up ..............or Giggles, Glue
A is for ABC's ..............or Art, Arithmetic, Alphabet
R
T
E
N
Not going to finish it, but well, you see what I mean!
