I'm not sure if we will do Halloween costumes or not this year, as our usual Halloween party is cancelled, but if we do...
I know DD would love to coordinate with her brother - other than Christmas jammies last year, we haven't really done matching or coordinating stuff for them. I know I've seen cute coordinating costume ideas before - anyone want to refresh my memory? DD will be just a few days shy of 4 years old, and DS will be 18 months. Thanks!
I coordinate my kids more often than you do and do for Halloween also.
Year 1 w/ two: Mickey/Minnie(DH *loves* mickey so it was for him. ;) )
year 2: Cinderella(dd's choice) and "gus" the mouse
year 3: they were both penguins(a FamilyFun idea)
This year I'm getting them excited about being a ladybug and a bumble bee. :) Just need to figure out how to make the costumes happen. I like to make them myself.
Does your DD like rabbits? They could be the tortoise (DS) and the hare (DD).
I have no idea why, but that is the first thing that came to my mind when I read your post.
Mary and her little lamb (or is a lamb too girly?)
Any princess with various characters (Ariel with Sebastian, or Tinkerbell and Peter Pan, for example)
Dorothy and Toto (or tin man, lion, etc.)
Cheerleader and some type of sports player or mascot
DD could be Goldilocks and DS could be a bear.
DD could be curious george and DS could be the man with the yellow hat.
If you make each of them a different animal, that would coordinate too. Or each a different fruit, or bug (as PP said)- butterfly, ladybug, bumblebee...
What about a cowboy and cowgirl?
My 4 yo is going to be a mouse and my 21 month old is going to be a cat.

I asked DS what he wanted to be for Halloween, and he said "A police officer!" Then I asked him what he thought his little sister should be for Halloween. He said, "A little police officer!"

Dc did Fairy & Gnome one year. I also like things like Cat & Mouse, Knight & Princess, Raggedy Ann & Andy,
back when i was in high school, two of my girl friends and i dressed up as pigs and one of our guy friends dressed up as a wolf. if you and your dh want to dress up too, you could all be the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf.

Last year DD was a little under 2 and DS was 4. He wanted to be a farmer so I picked up some cute carhartt overalls for him (child-sized) and we had a straw hat in our dressup box. I tied a bandana around his neck, and he wore a flannel shirt under his overalls. He rode his little ride on tractor around the neighborhood with this plastic trailer that hooks up to it. DD rode in the trailer as a chicken (someone had given us a super cute hand me down chicken costume, coincidentally). We had some of our wooden eggs and straw in the trailer part too.
The kids got a kick out of it and I liked the combo together :)
I'm trying to persuade my two to do Fairy and Gnome this year LOL. I already have multiple fairy types of costumes in our dressup box so it would be fairly easy. I like the Family Fun gnome costume where it looks like the gnome is sitting cross-legged on a toadstool :love-retry:Quote:

Gone are the years of me getting to choose for my son!! :-( Last year I lucked out in that he wanted to be a big teddy bear and have his little sister be a little teddy bear. This year he is insisting on spiderman (boo). I'm still trying to decide if I should have my daughter be a spider or just find something else cute and little more feminine (but not matching) for her.

I once saw two siblings dressed as salt and pepper shakers. It was so cute! You could go off that idea and be ketchup and mustard or something like that.
I also went to an adult party and saw a couple dressed as a farmer and the dell...the girl was the farmer and the guy was a dell computer. Too cute. The next year, they went as a cowboy and Indian - only they did sports mascots; he went as a dallas "cowboy" with the cowboy hat, boots and dallas jersey and she went as our college mascot (Indian at the time), with her hair in pigtail braids and Indian headgear but wearing the college jersey. I loved the play on the names and, even though neither is that appropriate for kids, it may get your creative juices flowing.
Your DD could be a butterfly and your DS a caterpillar.

lots of other good ideas above! A friend did Peter Pan and Tink last year and it was very cute.
I only have one DC currently, but when I was growing up, my mom did themes with our costumes for my 2 brothers and me.

This year we're going to be the Flinstones - Fred & Wilma with DD as Pebbles, but you could do Pebbles & Bam Bam.

Firefighter and Dalmation
This year DD is 7 and DS is 3...they are doing cheerleader and football player, I think.
