I scored a new Imp Originals black gabardine Eton suit for $25 (jacket and shorts only), and plan on buying the coordinating white Eton shirt and black gabardine bow tie. I'm not sure what style and color dress socks to buy, and what type of dress shoe, though.
DS will be the ring bearer at my brother's wedding in October, and is the only other male in the wedding party besides the best man (another brother). My brothers will be wearing black formal wear. The ceremony is at 11:00 a.m., in a Catholic church.
It seems like knee-high dress socks are the most common type of hosiery matched with Eton suits, so I'm leaning towards a pair of black ones. White socks seemed like they would stand out too much, and make DS look like Eddie Munster or Angus Young of AC/DC, LOL. (Hmm, Halloween ideas...!)
Do dress shoes have to be black patent, or can they just be shiny or even matte black leather? I don't plan on buying them till closer to the wedding date, but I'm starting to shop around for ideas now. I'm considering some sort of black lace-up dress shoe, hopefully not too expensive, since DS might not wear them again.
Will black dress socks and shoes seem like too much unrelieved black?

Pardon the Miami Vice look, the bedhead, and Mavis clutched in DS's hand--he felt compelled to grab a matching train before posing! (This picture will self-destruct in a few days.) :)
Thanks!
Edited to add a few comparison pics (not DS!).
