Default infant clothes for a wedding

My 40-week date is Oct 2 and my BIL is getting married Oct 28, which means this kid could be probably 3-6 weeks old at the wedding. This is his first niece or nephew and I'm sure we'll be included in lots of family pictures. I don't know the gender of the little one, and am not sure how big he or she will be at the point of the wedding, but I am wondering how I will dress her or him for the big day.

Any suggestions for a first-time mom? Thanks in advance...

I would just buy somthing soft and comfy. There are lots of "dressy", high quality cotton layette items out there. I would probably go with white...or if you felt funny about that, green or yellow. I would avoid any over done frills or little suits.

I would also go with white - BabyGap recently had some linen white stuff, which may or may not be warm enough depending where you live in October. I would look now though, because my DD was 7 weeks old at Christmas, and it was a nightmare trying to find an outfit for her - because I waited til Dec 15th to start looking! If you prefer not to do gender neutral, you could buy one girl outfit and one boy outfit that you like and return whichever you don't use - just make sure you buy somewhere with a good return policy. GL and happy shopping!

Agree with the PPs and wanted to suggest Talbot's Kids too - they have amazing layette. Also a nice pretty pouch or sling for you so you don't have to play pass the baby if you don't want to. :)

    Best,

definitely white! gender neutral, dressy for a wedding, hides any white spit up ;).

i would go with a gown so that size won't be as big of an issue. and baby will probably sleep most of the time, too. there are some boutiques around here that have stunning white gowns. very "dressy" looking, but still cozy.
