Default Trying to find a kiddio trike

    Hi,

I just went through old posts and now I want to get DD the Kiddio supertrike 4. It is on amazon.com but it will cost me ~$120 shipped. And mytoybox.com just emailed me back and said, "Unfortunately we are currently sold out of that item and we are being told by Kettler that it will no longer be available."

So can I find this trike anywhere else? Or can anyone recommend a good alternative?

    Thanks!

    Kristen

I don't think you will be able to find the Kiddio Supertrike anywhere else. I believe they were made exclusively for Toys 'R Us, and mytoybox.com bought up their stock when they stopped carrying it. Since Amazon and Toys 'R Us are separating soon, I wouldn't think you could even find it there soon.

Not sure of alternative though. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

We got our at TRU 1 1/2 years ago and still love it! Very happy I didn't spen the big bucks on a Kettler brand as these are made by Kettler and ours has been great and is holding up excellent.

I searched for a looooong time before we bought DS's as I wasn't in a rush and I could wait it out. I never saw it go on sale at TRU, except for the fact that we used a TRU friends and family code to get a percentage off (I don't remember what). It basically offset the shipping costs and a little more...it brought it down from about 110 to under $100 if I remember right. I think the TRU friends and family code was maybe in the fall? I'm not sure if they do it once or twice a year, but maybe you'll find a code somewhere for a percentag off (although I never could find one that worked before this particular friends and family deal).

The mytoybox deal was great but I think as the PP said someone contacted them and they only had it as a one-time buyout from TRU or something like that.

For air tires, seatbelt, dump bucket, etc. all included, I still honestly don't think 120 is bad for what you get. If you don't need air tires, maybe something like a One Step Ahead version of the Kettler?

I went to Toys R Us yesterday and saw a Supertrike 2 for $59. Does anyone know what the differences are?
I also saw this radio flyer: http://www.radioflyer.com/trikes/trikes_21XL.html

    Here are the features listed:

    • Fully assembled for instant riding
    • Folds up for easy portability and storage
    • Telescoping push handle conveniently "hides away" into seat back
    • Steering locks for easy adult pushing
    • Freewheeling pedals allow rider to coast while adult pushes
    • Easy to carry handle grip
    • Sturdy latch keeps trike secure
    • Low center of gravity for maximum stability
    • Sturdy steel construction
    • Controlled turning radius for stability

I think the wheels are plastic but all the features seem great.

Does anyone have this? If so do you recommend it?

    Thanks!

It looks pretty good especially for the price. I notice the weight limit is only 36 pounds, though, and I'm pretty sure it's smaller than the Kiddio so you would have a more limited time on it (although Kaya is still only 25 pounds, so in her case, she'd be able to ride longer). For the wheels, we like the inflated wheels because Kaya sometimes likes being pushed on the grass, plus we have pebbly areas. But no, the inflated wheels are probably not necessary for just sidewalk pushing. The other features definitely sound great, especially for a younger kid (steering lock and freewheeling pedal).

I did not notice the weight limit. I'm going to have to reconsider since my almost 22 month old is 28+ lbs already. So are there another less expensive options out there?

    Thanks!

We saw that Radio Flyer at our TRU yesterday and the handle was breaking off on one side and felt VERY flimsy...like you wouldn't be able to really steer side to side with it or pop a wheelie with the child on the trike (too much weight). Half of the red handle had broken loose from the long part of the handle on the floor model. The whole thing was so poorly made that DH was really turned off and I think it made him semi-convinced that we need to look at a sturdier (and likely pricier) option.

There are reviews of this Radio Flyer on Amazon as well and they are pretty poor.
