Totally random question: how does one grocery/Target shop when your little one has outgrown the SnugRide? He's not sitting up on his own yet so is a bit too small to sit in the cart on his own.

Is the Bjorn the only option--other than leaving the babe at home?

(I purchase way too much to rely on the puny basket on the stroller)

You can still use the snug ride for shopping. Even though the baby has outgrown the snugride you can keep it in the trunk and transfer the baby from the convertible car seat to the snugride and use it in the store. It's not safe anymore as a carseat but it's still usuable as a carrier. Just a thought.

I agree. Just always be sure to do up the harness nice and snug, just like in the car. Infant seats have been known to hop off grocery carts.

I am having the same issue and mt ds isn't even 3 months old!! I took the snugride with me..It was sort of a pain because he fell asleep in the bigger seat and unbuckling him and rebuckling him etc. But he was much more comfortble in the big boy car seat!

We used the carseat just as a carrier. We also used a front pack carrier (Kelty). And if there were two of us, we used the stroller for DS while the other pushed the shopping cart. It was only a time frame of maybe 2 months or so before we realized he could sit in the shopping cart w/ a little support (coats, diaper bag, etc).

I am currently experiencing the same problem and have found a few websites that sell shopping cart seat covers. They are machine washable and are not only a safer way to secure your child in the cart, they also protect them from putting their mouth on the handle of the cart . Some are even padded: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/perfectl...-cartseat.html

I haven't purchased one yet, but it seems to be the perfect solution. Especially after watching Inside Edition one night and learning about all the bacteria found on grocery carts.

"There could be harmful bacteria from raw meats and produce, and harmful viruses from people's hands that have been sick, present on shopping cart handles." - UGH!!

I am pretty sure most baby stores carry a similar product.

This weekend when I bought the marathon from great beginnings I also picked up the Comfy Strap Deluxe. It's lighter than lugging around a large shopping cart cover but still keeps the baby positioned and away from the handle (which I clean anyway).

I also use my Mom n Me pouch when shopping and love it.

Lilly was too long for her infant seat at 6 months ~ I purchased a shopping cart cover from this site ~ http://covers4kids.com/ ~ and have been extremely happy with it!
