    Default Decathalon in an Accord

My sister has an Accord, I believe it is a 2005 (not any older though). She has a decathalon RF in the backseat for my 18 month old DN. I just noticed yesterday that 1) she doesn't have it tethered, 2) one of the straps is very twisted, 3) she used Latch in the center to install.

She is coming over this weekend so DH and I can uninstall and reinstall. Here are my questions.

    1) I'm pretty sure you can't use latch for a center install in an Accord? Am I right?

    2) Where is a good place to tether? everything is covered in her car (like my Odyssey). Is it the same as my Odyssey where we removed the plastic covers to reveal a good tether point?

    3) How do the straps get twisted? Our Marathon staps did and we have to remove the seat from the car and spend roughly 30 minutes fixing the problem.

    Thanks,
    Heather

1A) Yay! She has her 18 mo RF! <happy dance>
    1) Right, no center LATCH in Accord.
    2) Um... might want to just push the front seats forward a long way and dig around under there, I THINK there's a useable seat track towards the center of the car.
    3) Might want to encourage her to loosen the straps a tad when she removes the kiddo and use the velcro tabs to hold them out of the way.
3A) Make sure it's not on the list of recalled Decathlons and help her order the new harness adjuster thingie if it is.
    4) Yay! She has her 18 mo RF! <double happy dance>

I'll try and look for a tether point in our 2006 Accord tonight. I can't promise anything because DH is going out to dinner for work and I have a baby with croup!

Thanks Julie. I will look at the decathalon recall post and make sure she gets what she needs. Now that I am really thinking about it, theirs is the one with the knob that adjusts the harness height and the headwings. I think that is actually a boulevard--???

I taught her how to use the seat, so I know she loosens the straps (don't know if her DH does though).

I will check out the underside of the front seats for a good tether spot.

Just FWIW, I got her and her DH to do extended RF. I forwarded them articles, showed them crash tests etc... they were so impressed with what I showed them even before DN was born that they ended up getting the convertible right off the bat (no infant carrier). They got an infant carrier 1 month after she was born to use when they needed something (sister did not like wearing DN).

Ah yeah, that's the Boulevard, no recall on it recently.

Here is what I found. The best place, IMO is the inside leg of the passenger side front seat for a center or passenger side install. The driver's side felt the same but I didn't look close since DH get annoyed when I move his seat, LOL.

Push the passenger seat all the way forward. You will see the plastic cover of the leg. Pop off that cover (it really just pops right off if you pull it toward the back of the car). Thread the d-ring around it and you are good to go!
