Default Chicco Tuscany , Inglesina Swift, or Peg Perego Pliko Matic?

Can anyone give recommendations on whether to get the Chicco Tuscany or the Inglesina Swift? I have been reading reviews and would definately go with the Chicco if it wasn't a brand new model with only 6 weeks market and usage time. The Chicco comes with the rain hood and has 5 position recline. The Inglesina seems the same but has been around longer. I can get the Chicco for $79 at BRU and the Inglesina for $85 at babyride.com.

I have also looked at the Peg Perego 2002 Pliko Matic, which is at Albee Baby for $125, but have read differing reviews about whether or not this comes with a basket and rain cover. I would prefer to spend under $100, but if I can be sure that the Pliko comes with the basket I would also consider it, though I have read several reviews about this that say it is difficult to open and close.

I would really appreciate any advice and reviews on these three models, or other recommendations that are similar (umbrella style, reclining seat, under $125). Thanks.

    Hi Kara,
For such a young baby, I'd say go with the Pliko. I bought a Tuscany recently, in lieu of a Mac Quest, and returned it b/c it just wasn't padded enough, IMO. It is a good price on a decent stroller, though you should be aware than the Chiccos don't have a great track record as far as durability like Macs, Pegs, etc do, and that the Tuscany has only a 37lb weight limit.

I've had a 2002 Pliko Trek, a 99 Pliko Sherpa, and now have a 2003 Pliko P3, and have loved all of them. The one-handed steerability, if that's a word, leaves a lot to be desired on the older models, and even the P3 isn't a good as I want it to be, but for a $125 Pliko, it will be worth it.

You may also want to look into a gently used Maclaren Quest, Techno, or Vogue on ebay or Swap (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/StrollerSWAP), they would probably work well for you.

    Good luck!

I have the 2003 Plikomatic (in 2003, PP made both the P3 and the Plikomatic, so it can get a bit confusing) and our children are close in age -- so I'd say the Pliko of those three. I haven't seen the Tuscany yet, but I'd be somewhat hesitant to buy a new model until there were some reviews on it. HOwever, if you can find a Chicco 2002, I would buy that over the Pliko given the age of your DD. I just got a Chicco 2002 and LOVE it! It steers wonderfully and DD seems to be VERY comfy in it -- more than the Pliko (not that she seems uncomfortable in the Pliko, but just more comfy in the Chicco). I've gotten good use out of my Pliko as I purchased the car seat adapter bar and was able to use the Graco SnugRide infant seat in the stroller as a travel system. However, DD is almost out of the infant seat and I'll soon be retiring the Pliko in favor of the Chicco 2002.

Which is a long winded answer to say that if you won't be using the Pliko as a travel system with an infant seat at all or for much longer, and if you can find a Chicco 2002, go with the 2002 over the Pliko.

And, IMO, the Swift d/n have enough padding for my DD -- though it might be a nice stroller when she's older.

FWIW, the Swift and the Tuscany are EXACTLY the same. I took my Tuscany to BBB in Rockville before returning it, just to check them out side by side! The only diff is the Tuscany comes in, IMO, better color choices, and the Swift has a higher (isn't it 45?) weight limit.

Oh, and I've NEVER heard any complaints about the Chicco 2002, everyone LOVES THEM!

Thank you all for your help. What do you think of the Pliko vs Chicco 2002 vs Zooper zstreet? These are on ebay for under $100 and I have read lots of good things about them. I'm just wondering how they compare to these other two.

I've tried them all but don't own the Zooper.

IMO, while they are good strollers, I find the Zooper lineup all heavy compared to the competition. Others here may disagree.

Personally, I'd go for the Chicco 2002.

    Good luck, happy shopping!

I've owned a Pliko, a Chicco 2002 and a P3. Out of those three, I'd choose a P3, but out of three that you listed, I'd choose a Chicco 2002. The weight limit on it is quite low though, 33lbs, so keep in mind that you won't be able to use it as long as the others.
