    Default Stupidest Pregnancy Complaint Ever...

    ...but I'm posting anyway!

So you know that dark line that some women get down the middle of their stomach during pregnancy (the linea negra, or whatever)? Well, I always thought that looked kind of gross, so I decided that I simply would not get one when and if I ever got pregnant. As if I had any control over it - apparently I thought it'd be a mind over matter kind of thing.

Well, of course, I've been noticing a faintly darkening line develop on my stomach over the past month or so. I've really been trying to just ignore it, and for the most part I've just been dismissing it as yet another annoying pregnancy symptom. But when I got out of the shower tonight, I took a good look at it in the mirror for the first time. And...

    ...IT'S CROOKED!!!

WTH?!? The top half goes down to the left side of my belly button, while the bottom half starts at the right side of my belly button and slowly meanders its way back to the middle.

So now I don't just have a line on my stomach - I have what looks like a bad drawing of the Mississippi River across my ever-expanding belly. Great. Just great.

I'm completely fed up. They can FedEX the rest of my children to me. This is just too ridiculous!

The biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make...I did not live in the moment enough. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less. - Anna Quindlen

LOL. Think about it this way, maybe DC will be good at geography. I think Fed Ex has an untapped market with the shipping kids idea. Hang in there.

ha ha ha!! you are too funny. mine went down, the around my belly button in a complete circle, then back straight down.

lucky for me, my native american ancestry (although very far back) saved me from a permanent mark.

    Hi there,

Too funny! When I was pregnant w/DD, mine was like that, too. My OB said that it was really common for it not to be a straight line. Sorry you're annoyed w/it. With this pregnancy, I do not have a visible linea negra. Strange since I definitely had it w/DD.

Hang in there! It's annoying, but soooo worth it!

Mine WAS straight. Until the c-section. Then it was discontinuous. They sewed me up crooked. Ugh. It does go away at least.

Sorry you don't like your line. At least it's well-covered most of the time. :P

Funny you posted this. Mine was crooked as well and seemed to be there forever after DD was born. I thought it would never go away, so be prepared to possibly have it for awhile. I didn't really like it either, but it bothered me a lot more after DD was born than before. I guess I just started to ignore it and I have no idea when it went away. I haven't even thought about it until I read your post. I just checked my belly to be sure and it's gone! :-)

Grass is always greener. I got no line at all and I was bummed out for some reason.
