So has anybody ever tried this out and, if so, was it accurate? A friend of mine just did the test on me (I'm not much of a believer of fortune-telling, tarot cards, etc., so this was just a goofing around thing), but it correctly predicted what we know to be true so far.

You put a threaded needle through the eraser end of a pencil, then hold onto the thread and let the lead steady over your wrist. Once the lead gets still, it automatically starts a motion on its own- circle is girl, pendulum is boy, and it stops between each set child it "predicts" the number AND gender of the children you will have. Hmmmm....

She's tried it on lots of friends, and usually (ideally!) their spouses matches theirs identically- one girl who didn't ever want to have kids didn't get any movement, etc. She also said it does the same pattern each time- so it'll make the same predictions on me in the future. My husband is not thrilled that I even tried it, and being an engineer, he's completely dismissed the whole idea anyway :) But at least it was fun!

I've heard of this-- it supposedly works with any dangling pendulum thing. I HAVE seen a pendulum begin swinging of its own accord, but I don't know about the boy-girl thing. Apparently it's an energy thing. The pendulum picks up on the energy you release, and that's what makes it swing. Interestingly, it will also swing over organic foods, but not over conventional foods.

I had a similar predictor test in which I had to pull a hair from my head (ouch!) and tie my wedding band with the hair and then dangle it over my body. sounds very "voo-doo-ish", but several women at my shower swore by it.

As weird as it sounds..... it was right. Each time I tried it (hey, it was during my pregnancy days when I had still had time for such nonsense), a boy was predicted. Lo and behold, we had a boy!

Totally flukey, I know. But those little games sure can be fun! And by the way, my husband is a scientist so he too was totally disgusted by the whole thing.....
