Default Can someone confirm what a floating baby shower means?

I just received an invitation to a friend's shower. It stated that it was a floating shower. I was told that it could mean just to drop in between the times stated. Is that correct?

I don't know. My first thought, however, was that it's a pool party. Get it? Floating?
Either that or something like a pub crawl or something, where you start in one place and end in another.
Sorry I can't be of more help. The phrase (I gotta say it) makes me laugh, though.

I have no idea. Why would that be on an invitation if no one knows what it means? I would call and ask. I would imagine they're getting lots of calls.

I have no idea either! We often have "Drop-in" showers at church meaning that you come any time between the hours on the invitation (say 2-4p.m) and stay as long as you want, not feeling obligated to stay the entire time. Showers like that are also sometimes called a "Tea" (I'm in the South, can you tell? ;) ). With this type of shower, they do not play those shower games or have an extremely formal gift opening time or anything.

But, I've never heard the term "floating" applied to a shower. Another thing, we sometimes have "progressive" dinners...appetizer at one house, meal at another house, dessert at a 3rd house, etc. Maybe that's what it means?

Can't wait to hear the final verdict! :)

I have no idea what it means and I even googled it. All I got was instructions on how to make a floating invitation-ice glacier party anyone? ;)

My first thought would be like the progressive dinner thing, from house to house. Never heard of it for a shower though. How funny is that, a floating shower? Does it levitate?

The ONLY thing I can think of is the word "floating" applies to the "shower" of guests and gifts. Since they all won't be there at the same time, the mom-to-be is showered by a floating shower.

Its a stretch but I am curious too! :)

Since it we are in North Carolina and my friend and her sister (hostess) are VERY proper Southern ladies, I am assuming it is a drop-in. But I am going to call and find out. LOL. Thanks for the interesting ideas, ladies. LOL.....
