    I was invited to "floating shower" and it was a drop-in shower.

    In my area, the Pacific Northwest, we call drop-in events: "open house". For instance, when Logan was born we had an Open House Welcoming Party from 2-5pm, so everyone could see him since I said no visitors at the hospital. Maybe "floating" is a regional term.
