Default OT: Soothing a dry and irritated face

I *think* I had an allergic reaction to something late last week. I have slightly sensitive skin, but I don’t have any known allergies other than pollen. My face was so red, itchy and warm to the touch last week. I used Aquaphor and the redness subsided. Now my entire face is extremely dry (and still itchy), including the eye area. I have no idea what’s causing this. Because my face is so itchy, I feel itchy everywhere else as well. Is there anything that would help? I’m hesitant to put anything near or on my eyes since I wear contacts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would call your doctor to see what they had to say first, but assuming they weren't really concerned... I would try a cortizone cream to relieve it. I would start by applying it several times a day for a couple days (you should see improvement then) & then start cutting back for a couple days at a time until it gone, or at least under control. I would expect this to happen in about a week. That's what I've done with ezcema flare-ups here & it works pretty well, although we always have to use something else in order to get it to disappear altogether. I don't like using cortizone for longer than a week at a time at most, especially on the face.

    Sorry you're so itchy.

You might try Moisturel lotion. When I scratch my legs too much in the winter, it is the only lotion that does not sting.
