Default Dumb question: but how do you apply lotion/cream to your back?

I have been wondering about this for a while, esp. now that I am trying to make sure to moisturize religiously.

Let's say DH is not able to help me out, let's just assume that. How can I apply lotion all over my back and not missing a spot?

When I posed this question to DH, he said, "Oh oh oh, that reminds me of Silence of the Lambs when the guy said it puts the lotion in the basket..." At that point, I really didn't want to ask DH to help me out. KWIM? **SIGH**

Usually I don't, but I am a bit of a freak in that I can actually get all parts of my own back. Sorry, but that doesn't help you out any. What is it with men and Silence of the Lambs, anyway?

Since one just does not simply walk into Mordor, I say we form a conga line and dance our way in.
Excuse me, are you in a play?

I've had decent results by putting the lotion on the *back* of my hand, then rubbing it in. It seems to help me get most of those harder-to-reach spots. Might be worth a try. :-)

May sound strange but I use a small towel. I put the lotion in the areas I can reach and then I take a small towel, swing it over my back, grab the other end and kind of just "dry" my back but move the lotion around as best I can. I usually use Skin So Soft right out of the shower and that is easier for me to get all over.

BTW, Silence of the Lambs was one of our first dates, I was scared out of my wits especially when it was time to walk to the dark parking structure. DH, then just a second date, held my hand all the way. What a sweetie.

You can actually buy things called lotion applicatiors.

Let me know if you want to know where to buy it.

Here's how to break DH of that one: use spray-on sunblock when you do his back for him. It may say "no rubbing needed" but if he believes that, he's just gonna love the bright red hidden Mickey Mouse pattern that will emerge after his long snorkel adventure.

I know, nothing helpful about that reply. But something just brought out the devil in me, thinking "her DH needs to learn what mine learned! Then he'd be more helpful."

I do part of my back using the back of my hand, since it is the only way I can reach to the middle. I don't have any better thoughts than that though.

    Jennifer,

Wow. Nice find. Thank you! I guess I am not the only one with the problem. (was thinking that maybe I should come up with something to solve this problem of mine so I can go on the American Inventor! lol)

Thanks to the others too for chiming in. Back of your hands. Huh, I never thought of that. Should try it.

LOL. This reminds me: BIL went snorkeling in Maui with us. On the boat, poor guy didn't have anybody to put sun lotion on for him. (He was single then; I wasn't going to sunlotion him; DH wasn't going to do that for him either...) So he did miss a spot. He's so fair that the missing spot turned into big ouch after hours of floating in the water with his back towards to the intense sun. People on the boat could also see the big red spot on his back and were making fun of him. Poor guy.
