Default Neutralizing PineSol STENCH after it spilled in the car!

Subject line says it all - my parents left DS's birthday party yesterday with a Costco bottle of Pine Sol in the back of their car. 20 minutes into the ride they pulled over to figure out what smelled so strong. The entire bottle of Pine Sol emptied into my dad's Rav-4 and despite removing the saturated mats and sopping up what he could, even keeping the windows open for 24 hours has made no difference.

Any experience that you could share? I wonder whether vinegar or baking soda might help but I am so afraid of making it worse.

    TIA for any advice!!!

i would dump baking soda on the spill and let it soak up the smell. then vacuum it away. worked for me and stinky carpet. of course, that was stinky dog carpet... not pine sol!

I was going to suggest the baking soda as well. You can leave it overnight and it won't hurt anything.

ETA: Depending on the amount of pine sol that was spilled there, it may take a couple cycles of treatment with the BS.
