Default What to serve? Our pastor is coming over for a visit...

DH, DS & I recently joined a new congregation. The Pastor is coming over Monday evening for an official "meeting!"

What should I serve? It's after dinner....I can make something since I'm off Monday and will have some time in the later afternoon.

    Hi Laura!
My husband is a pastor, so I can say from personal experience that food of any kind blesses a pastor's heart ;)

Since it's after dinner, how about a hearty, comfort-food dessert? Apple crisp, a cobbler, pie, sweet potato casserole, etc etc, with some nice-flavored coffee and tea. If you save on the dessert, you could give your pastor some coffee as a gift.

Hope that helps you think of ideas!

I am not the one to ask. My family's priest when I was a child would come over to our house and eat Cherrios. My parents would cook something great (my dad makes awesome desserts from scratch) and the priest would eat that and then ask if we had Cherrios. My parents got to the point that if he was coming, they would buy Cherrios. I always wondered if they were forbidden in the priest's quarters or something, LOL.

    I second a nice hearty dessert. :)

    Definitely dessert :)

Our pastor drinks coffee all day long, so if he's coming over, I make sure we have a pot on, no matter what time it is. Someone in the congregation may know if your pastor has a special preference like that (or like the cheerios!).
