Default RE: OT - Cocktail party - what songs / CDs would you play?

You know, my favorite ones, especially for parties, are from Costco of all places. They always seem to have a few compilation CDs at our local costco and I often pick up one or two. The last Salsa ones I got was a 3-pack. Sometimes they have names like Latin, etc., and there is usually a display where you can play some tracks.

You could do Mexican, Spanish or Caribbean-themed appy's, maybe cocktail napkins and drinks too.

the fields of gold: best of sting cd makes good background music for ds and i at home during the day :). other than that, i LOVE the 40's music station on the satelite dish for our TV - something about big band is just so timeless and classy. harry connick jr. has a similar sound if you want something more modern. you could also search for rosemary clooney 'come on-a my house' if you wanted some authentic 40's.

    Everything But the Girl
Santana- Supernatural (duets with popular artists- it's a great disc!)

for hip and fun but still able to hear yourself talk I would say anything by Harry Connick Jr. I'm not usually a fan of jazz, but I love his music. It's great whether you want to LISTEN or have something going in the background.
