    Default My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    I decided to ask moms who have kids of all ages to reply to a quick questionaire about our daily lives. I thought it would be neat to compare where our kids were and where they are going.

    Take a look at your day in a 24 hour chunk and let me know the following:

    -Age of child(children)

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime
    -Wake up time
    -Number of wake ups at night (if applicable, how do you get them back to sleep, how long are they/ you normally awake for per wake up, how often do they have wake ups that they can't handle themselves?)
    -Naps (number of, what time(s) of day, how long they usually last)

    Eating:
    -What time are meals
    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    -Favorite foods
    -Least favorite foods

    For the babies:
    -Number of times in 24 hours baby nurses or has bottle?
    -Length of nursing/ bottle sessions?
    -What were the times of the feeding sessions?
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today?

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars)
    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places?
    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)?

    -What do you like most about this age?
    -What is the biggest challenge?
    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead?

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    I should reply, huh? :)

    Take a look at your day in a 24 hour chunk and let me know the following:

    -Age of child(children)
    4

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime 9

    -Wake up time 8

    -Number of wake ups at night (if applicable, how do you get them back to sleep, how long are they/ you normally awake for per wake up, how often do they have wake ups that they can't handle themselves?) 0 wake ups

    -Naps (number of, what time of day, how long they usually last) 0 :(

    Eating:
    -What time are meals 8:30, 12, 6-7

    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    Breakfast- cereal bar, toast, pancakes, water, OJ or strawberry milk
    Lunch- grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, taquitos, Indian, fruit, one of above
    Snacks- cheese, crackers, carrots with dip, yogurt, water
    Dinner- I'd say whatever we are eating but that's not true. It is usually someting like on the lunch list or some variation of our dinner. He doesn't seem to like good old "meat and potatoes." He'll eat a ton of food if it is served at a restaurant, especially if ethnic. Water. Broccoli, peas, green beans are favorite sides.

    -Favorite foods at this moment- taquitos, chana masala (sp?), rice, poori, hot dogs

    -Least favorite foods- anything I make. :) Soup of any kind, casseroles, peanut butter and jelly (temporary?), salad

    For the babies:
    -Number of times in 24 hours baby nurses or has bottle?
    -Length of nursing/ bottle sessions?
    -What were the times of the feeding sessions?
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today?

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars):

    wake up, preschool till after lunch time, run an errand to Target, home to hang out/ watch tv/ play with Legos, go to babysitting at the gym, dinner out with dad, home for bedtime (teeth, PJs, story, kisses)

    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places?

    too much to count but that would be a lot my fault for not being better organized. Drive to school takes 25 minutes.

    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)?

    Typical Saturday at home...dad will watch TV or do a project; mom will read, cook or clean; ds will either join up with us for one of those activities or just play by himself with Geotrax, Legos, or get out every toy he owns and just play.

    -What do you like most about this age?

    How independent he is and how I can trust him to play by himself upstairs, how silly he is, how he uses his imagination, how he still likes to cuddle

    -What is the biggest challenge?

    He's very willfull and has a hard time controlling his emotions when he gets mad or frustrated. Luckily I am coming to terms with the fact that he is just a pretty average 4 year old boy and they are all working on this to some degree.

    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead?

    Nah, like my ILs said you never want them to go backwards. I like that he can really talk to me so I wouldn't want to go back to baby or toddler hood.

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    Age 2 (27 months)

    SLEEP
    * Bedtime at 7pm
    * Wake up between 6 & 7:15, depending on day
    * Once in a blue moon, DS wakes up at 4am-ish, we say it's still night night time, and he goes back to bed immediately till at least 6am. Sleeping thru the nite like this since 3mo
    * 1 nap 1 - 3:30

    EATING
    * bfast by 8am, lunch at 11:30, dinner at 6, snacks whenever
    * bfast is nutrigrain bar, oatmeal, cereal, eggs, or waffles.
    * Loves Costco's dino nuggets, corndogs, pasta, most veggies, fruit, milk, drinkable yogurt, raisins, eggs
    * Won't go near beef

    BABIES
    When he was a non-infant baby sleeping thru nite, he did the following:
    * Bottle at 6, 10, 2, 6
    * Changed his diaper as soon as I saw it was wet or poopy

    DAILY ACTIVITIES
    On Daycare days
    * Wake at 6am
    * Breathing treatment & milk on couch with TV
    * At daycare by 8am with bfast there
    * Pick up at daycare between 4:30 & 5:30 depending on my location
    * Starucks drivethru with horizon milk for DS
    * Breathing treatment & milk on couch with TV
    * Dinner
    * Bath (not every day)
    * Jammies, diaper, brush teeth
    * Books and play in our room on bed
    * Bedtime

    On At Home Week Days
    * Wake at 7:15ish
    * Breathing treatment & milk on couch with TV
    * Breakfast
    * Get dressed
    * Errands
    * Home or out for lunch
    * Home for nap by 1pm
    * Wake by 3:30 and play
    * 5pm breathing treatment and milk on couch with TV
    * Dinner
    * More playing
    * Bath (not every day)
    * Jammies, diaper, brush teeth
    * Books in our room on bed
    * Bedtime

    I love that at this age, DS is discovering absolutely everything and showing the sense of humor he's going to develop.

    Biggest challenge is that he's learned the word "no" and likes to use it. Also, he loves TV, and when we say no before he's ready to be done, he really has a hard time.

    I will always wish my baby was a baby again. At 2 montsh old I wished it, I wish it now, and I'll wish it when he's got hair growing out of his ears when he's 60.

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    -Age of child(children)
    DD, 20 months

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime 6:45pm
    -Wake up time 7:15 am
    -Number of wake ups at night Generally, 0 or if she does wake up she will almost always get herself back to sleep (I can hear her playing in her crib but don't go to her unless she is in distress). If she is crying/upset and can't settle down within 5-10 minutes I go up, give meds if necessary, rock for 15-20 minutes, and put back to sleep.

    -Naps (number of, what time(s) of day, how long they usually last) 1 nap/day, around noon, for around 2 hours.

    Eating:
    -What time are meals 8a, 11:15a, 5:15p with a snack between lunch/dinner or between breakfast and lunch if she goes down for an early nap and has lunch after the nap.
    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    B: drinkable yogurt, piece of raisin toast w/butter, 1/2 banana, some cereal and milk if she wants it with a spoon. L: some type of sandwich (grilled cheese) with some type of fruit. D: Some type of entree (quesadilla, grilled cheese, pizza, ravioli, mac/cheese, etc.) with a veggie (corn, peas, green beans) and a fruit. Maybe some pudding for dessert for spoon practice. Snacks are generally nilla wafers, goldfish, veggie booty, pirates booty, freeze dried fruit, cheese, graham crackers, and milk or water.

    -Favorite foods: pudding, drinkable yogurt, cheese, nilla wafers
    -Least favorite foods: veggies

    For the babies:
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today? Usually goes through about 5 dipes/24 hour period.

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars)On non-MDO days, she wakes up, we snuggle on the couch and watch sesame street and she has some milk, then breakfast, we get dressed and ready to go out. Mornings are usually playgroups or Gymboree class and then lunch and then nap. Afternoons we usually do errands and then home, play a little, dinner, bath, Watch Jack's Big Music Show, and then time for bed. On MDO days we might run a quick errand in the afternoon after I pick her up at 2:30, or go to the park if it's a nice day before coming home.
    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places? about an hour a day in the car usually going here and there.
    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)? Playing with DD in her room, playroom, and family room (rotate so she doesn't get too bored), cleaning while DD "helps" (give her a baby wipe or damp paper towel and she will do some cleaning too!), watch tv here and there.

    -What do you like most about this age? She can understand so much of what we say, loves to laugh, likes to imitate us, and can play independently fairly well for short blocks of time.
    -What is the biggest challenge? Can't articulate her wants/needs very well so sometimes gets frustrated when I don't understand what she wants.
    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead? NO! Each age has gotten more and more fun, I'm about to have another newborn and I'm not sure I'm ready to go back there again!

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    -Age of child(children): 3 1/2 (will be 4 in April)

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime: anywhere from 8:30 - 9:30
    -Wake up time anywhere from 7:30 - 9:30 AM
    -Number of wake ups at night (if applicable, how do you get them back to sleep, how long are they/ you normally awake for per wake up, how often do they have wake ups that they can't handle themselves?)If she does wake up it's once and usually she'll just end up in my bed or sleeping on my floor. I sleep so horribly now that I just don't care how she gets back to sleep as long as she goes back to sleep.
    -Naps (number of, what time(s) of day, how long they usually last)The only time that she goes to sleep is in the car. If she does nap, it usually is a pain for me and she won't go to sleep until 11:00 PM. So we try to avoid naps now.

    Eating:
    -What time are meals
    8:00 for breakfast, around 12:00 - 1:00 for lunch, anywhere from 6:00 - 7:00 for dinner

    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    Some of the things that we eat now that I'm pregnant are not what we eat typically. Being pregnant we get fast food at least twice a week.
    Breakfast is usually frozen waffles or eggs and toast or cereal
    Lunch at school is peanut butter crackers, a pickle, either fruit or cheese
    Lunch at home could be a PB&J sandwich, cucumbers, and cheetos
    Dinner - can be anything for dinner. I'm not a short order cook, but if she has leftovers from something else I'll let her eat that
    Snacks: can be fruit, popcorn, a treat (junk food).

    -Favorite foods: pickles, cucumbers, fruit, ranch dressing

    -Least favorite foods: meat

    For the babies:
    -Number of times in 24 hours baby nurses or has bottle?
    -Length of nursing/ bottle sessions?
    -What were the times of the feeding sessions?
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today?

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars) Yesterday she was in school from 9:00 - 12:30. When she came home at 1:00 we picked up her friend from across the street. Her mom has mastitis now so her friend stayed with us until 5:30. They played ponies, read books, had a snack of fruit, colored pictures, played dress up. I took that oppourtunity of them playing together to clean up around the house. She watched her programs on tv while I cooked dinner. We had dinner, she played a few computer games. Last night she slept with me while we are moving her from one room to another. This morning we had swim lessons.

    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places? Probably an hour total. I carpool with a neighbor to school.

    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)? The above scenario is typical. I don't think we could spend all day staying inside, even if it means going for a walk around the neighborhood.

    -What do you like most about this age? That she can play independently and clearly communicate her needs to me.

    -What is the biggest challenge? She can be stubborn and tests her limits and talks back.

    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead? Absolutely not

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    -Age of child(children)
    *2.5, 3 in April

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime
    *theoretically, 8pm. The last week, she's been up till about 11pm reading and singing to her stuffed animals!

    -Wake up time
    *weekdays, 6:30am. Weekends, whenever.

    -Number of wake ups at night (if applicable, how do you get them back to sleep, how long are they/ you normally awake for per wake up, how often do they have wake ups that they can't handle themselves?)
    *TOO FREAKIN' MANY! She rarely sleeps through the night. Most often since I've been PG, DH takes her into the spare room and sleeps with her.

    -Naps (number of, what time(s) of day, how long they usually last)
    * one, 12:30'ish, for 2 hrs at daycare, 1 hour if we are lucky at home (another new trick is she naps fine at daycare, won't nap for us at home).

    Eating:
    -What time are meals
    *6:30am, 12noon, 6pm. Snacks in between.

    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    *breakfast -- oatmeal & yogurt or cheerios & yogurt, sometimes toast too, milk
    *lunch -- sandwich, yogurt, fruit pieces, milk
    *dinner -- whatever we are having. I don't eat beef, pork or shellfish and neither does DD.
    *snacks -- cheerios, goldfish, granola bars, fruit, water, oatmeal & yogurt, cheese & crackers.

    -Favorite foods
    *oatmeal and yogurt currently. Last month it was cheerios and yogurt
    -Least favorite foods
    *anything spicy. How is she my kid?!

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars)
    *8am drop off at daycare, 8:30 at my office desk. DH picks her up at 4:40pm. He plays with her, goes to the park, etc. Sometimes starts dinner. I'm home by 6pm most nights, quick dinner and then play with DD or watch her play until 7:30pm when we start winding down for bed or bath every other night.

    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places?
    *My morning commute, including daycare dropoff (10-15 min), is 45 min door to door. Nighttime commute is 30-60 min, depending on traffic.

    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)?
    *cooking, cleaning, running errands. We rarely just "hang out".

    -What do you like most about this age?
    *she is extremely vocal and communicates her wants/needs well.
    *starting to be really into crafts, so I can interact more with her.

    -What is the biggest challenge?
    *SLEEP or lack thereof. Please, G-d, let #2 be a "sleeper". Please.

    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead?
    *not in a million years. I'm terrified how I'm going to cope with the infant stage again. Sigh. My favorite age is preschoolers and primary grades.

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    -Age of child: 16 months

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime: 7:00-7:30 am
    -Wake up time: 5:30-6:00 am
    -Number of wake ups at night - Lately 3-4 times per night, usually with one to two of them needing her dad or I to go in and help her get back to sleep. She's cutting molars and it's messing with her. Usually just take her with me (or her dad) into the extra bedroom and give her a sippy of water. She's back asleep in about 5 minutes usually.
    -Naps - 1 a day, 1-3 pm
    Eating:
    -What time are meals: 6:00 am (breakfast), 9:00 am (morning snack), 12:00 pm (lunch), 3:30 (pm snack), 6:00 pm (dinner)
    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    Breakfast: Fruit Serving (ex: kiwi, banana, peaches, mandarin oranges, etc.), Grain (ex: 1/2 Kashi waffle, 2 mini WW blueberry pancakes, WW toast) or Protein (scrambled egg with cheese), milk. She also gets one ounce of colby-jack cheese when she gets to daycare around 7:00.
    AM Snack: 2 Homemade mini muffins with veggies hidden inside. Either zucchini or carrot, usually.
    Lunch: Main dish (ex: ravioli, veggie quesadillas), fruit serving, veggie serving (ex: sauteed zucchini, peas & carrots, sweet potato)
    PM Snack: Provided by daycare...usually graham crackers, pretzels, something like that.
    Dinner: Veggie Pancakes w/ ketchup, sweet potato fries, Trader Joe's fish sticks w/ ketchup, fruit serving, Kashi crackers, veggie serving.

    Dinner varies more in size than any other meal. Some days she wants more, some days less. I just let her decide.

    -Favorite foods: Cheese, any fruit (her favorites are mandarin oranges and kiwi), muffins, ketchup (she will eat it plain if I'll let her)

    -Least favorite foods: Green beans, meat of any kind. I have convinced her to eat the TJ's fish sticks if I smear ketchup on them and she'll eat the meat filled ravioli, but that's it.

    For the babies:
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today? Between 7-8 usually.

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars)Yesterday I picked her up from school at 4:30 and we came home and she "helped" fold her laundry...her favorite thing. We played in her room and read books, played with the doll house until it was time for me to fix her dinner at 5:45. I turned on Shrek for her to watch while I fixed her dinner (it's all she'll watch anymore, no more Baby Signing Time for us...at least she already learned several signs). 6:00 she ate while I washed her daycare dishes. 6:20 bath time. 6:30 more playtime in her room and in the living room. We also drove her Kettler around the great room. 7:00 bedtime. Then up at 8:30, 10:30, 12:00, 3:30, 5:00 and for good at 6:00. (Love those molars) Then we did the breakfast/morning routine and daycare drop off. Now I'm working from home today. (Normally daycare dropoff is DH's job, but he's at a Microsoft seminar out of town.)

    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places? Maybe 20 minutes?

    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)? All of the above. I'm sure a Shrek viewing would be in there somewhere.

    -What do you like most about this age? Everything. She's just so engaging. She just started walking about 2 weeks ago, and it seems like she's developed a lot of confidence since then.

    -What is the biggest challenge? Being basically a single mom during the week since DH is in class Monday - Thursday and works full time too.

    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead? Sometimes, but I just love the interaction with her so much now. It's nice to see her personality develop. So probably my answer would be no.

    -Age of child 4

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime 8:30 to 9 (hopefully)
    -Wake up time 7:30
    -Number of wake ups at night 0
    -Naps 1 nap for 2 to 3 hrs (whew)

    Eating:
    -What time are meals 7:45, 12, 6pm
    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
    breakfast - egg tacos, yogurt, minipancakes, waffles, donuts w/dad on sundays
    lunch - ham or peanut butter sandwich, applesauce, cheese crackers of some sort
    dinner - pizza, hotdogs, fishsticks, avocados, yogurt, apples
    -Favorite foods Pizza
    -Least favorite foods EVERYTHING ELSE, that is seriously the list of only foods that he will eat.

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars) Got up, had breakfast, got dressed went to Preschool at 8:45pm. I worked all day, picked him up at 5pm and we went to Swim Lessons. Had dinner at home, played cars and the computer for a little while, then bath and bed. Get ready to do it all over again tomorrow. :)
    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places? Yikes, a lot. I commute about 45mins each way to/from work, but he's not with me for that. Drew does about 15mins each way to school, and another 15mins for swim lessons, so about 1 hour total for him for the day yesterday.
    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)? Well, we seem to be on the preschool birthday party marathon, so most weekends we have one or two parties to go to. Two last weekend. Other than that, we typically go out for lunch on Sat & sometimes on Sundays, and dinner on Friday and Saturday. I love to get in a nap along with Drew on the weekends.

    -What do you like most about this age? So sweet, cuddly and inquisitive.
    -What is the biggest challenge? Did I mention inquisitive? Also, the new found fascination with farting is starting to wear thin.
    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead? Not a chance, I love seeing Drew develop into the little person that he is!

    Default RE: My Mom Survey- updated without crossed off sections (those weren't supposed to be there!)

    Age of child(children): 1 year next week :)

    Sleep:
    -Bedtime 7:15
    -Wake up time 7:30
    -Number of wake ups at night (if applicable, how do you get them back to sleep, how long are they/ you normally awake for per wake up, how often do they have wake ups that they can't handle themselves?)Usually sleeps through the night, maybe 1 wake-up, but goes back to sleep in minutes
    -Naps (number of, what time(s) of day, how long they usually last) 2 naps, one about 10:00 and the other around 2:00 or 3:00, depending on length of first nap. Naps can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours (no rhyme or reason really)

    Eating:
    -What time are meals: usually an hour after each wake up. Dinner is at about 6:00
    -What makes up your standard breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks? DD doesn't eat a whole lot, a lot of cheerios, freeze dried veggies and fruits, etc. The only pureed-like foods she'll eat are the 3rd foods from Earth's Best (and they actually taste like food!)
    -Favorite foods: "Just Peas" and "just Apricots" from Whole Foods, O's
    -Least favorite food: cheese (go figure)

    For the babies:
    -Number of times in 24 hours baby nurses or has bottle? 6-100 times a day (lol)
    -Length of nursing/ bottle sessions? her "real" nursings are in the morning, and before naps/bed. They usually last about 20 minutes. Other ones are usually about 5-10 minutes.
    -What were the times of the feeding sessions? Child-led (I didn't ever go by times)
    -How many diapers did you or another grown up change today? in a normal day, between 7 and maybe 10 (if she's really poopy) Usually I'd say 8 (so far today: 4)

    How you spend your day:
    -Describe what you did in this 24 hour period (errands, fun stuff, hanging out at home, school, extracurriculars). We've mostly been hanging out at home the past few days. It got really cold yesterday, and there's no reason to leave the house (plus, DH is home this week, so he's been running my errands). We mostly play with toys, watch Signing Time and Peep and the Big Wide World (my fav kid so EVER), do laundry, etc.
    -How much time did you spend driving to and from all of these places? In a regular week (i.e. one that DH is working), I would go at least one place a day, driving time maybe 45 minutes total.
    -If you find yourself at home all day how would your family individually or as a whole pass the time? (TV, reading, playing video games, hanging out, cooking, cleaning...)? When DH is home, the TV is on 24/7 (driving me crazy). DD and I usually just play games and walk around the house, read books, etc.

    -What do you like most about this age? She's like a sponge. DD's learning her first words (including "haT' and "ohshoe"), just learned how to clap, is doing some animal sounds, etc. It's so much fun teaching her things (yesterday she blew me a kiss!)
    -What is the biggest challenge? DD's a huge mama's girl. Attached to the hip. I mostly love it, but I would LOVE to be able to, oh go to the bathroom by myself, or finish an email (Ive been working on this for awhile, lol). We haven't really gotten to the tantrum stage yet, but I can see it brewing.
    -If you could, would you want them to go backwards? Like if your child is 2 years old do you wish they were a baby again instead? DH and I were just watching DD's first bath, and she was so tiny! I kind of miss that, but I wouldn't want to go back. I love being able to watch her "grow up" everyday, that's WAY more fun.
