Adult Toothpaste for Under 2 Years Old

I use Jason organic toothpaste and it says that it is for 2 years old and up. Would it be okay for my 18 month old DD to use this too? I'm thinking it would be better for her than the baby stuff with the chemicals in it.

Does it have flouride? If not, I would think it would be fine.

Only if it does not have fluoride. At 18 months old, she's probably too young to understand to spit rather than swallow, which is important to keep from ingesting too much fluoride.

The baby stuff only provides flavor, no amazing tooth cleaning properties, so perhaps you'd be best to juse use plain water for your DD.

What everyone else says :) If it is fluoride free then you can use it. If it has fluoride, skip it until he's old enough to spit out. You don't have to use toothpaste at all for him unless he likes it and it helps the process.

FWIW, we use the Toms of Maine fluoride free kids toothpaste and DS likes it.

I like Spry toothpastes. They have an infant gel and an adult, fluoride free mint toothpaste that DS started using a little under 2 I think. They also make gums, etc.

They contain xylitol, which helps prevent tooth decay without the toxicity of fluoride. The infant gel has a mild cherry flavor, is slightly sweet (xylitol is naturally sweet), and no artificial color.
