I don't know what forum this goes in. Sorry if this is long and rambling, but I’m working on very little sleep. DS #2 began sleeping through the night at 1-1/2 months. I would nurse him at 9:00 when we put him down, and then at 6:00 when DH’s alarm clock went off. A week before he turned 3 months, he began waking up 3 and 4 times a night. We assumed it was a growth spurt and nursed on demand. The demand has not stopped though. He’s still waking up 3 and 4 times a night 2-1/2 weeks later! He’s nursing when we put him on, but only for about two minutes, as if to make sure it’s still working and available. After that, he just keeps enough suction to hold on and looks around and eventually dozes off. When he starts to fall asleep, he will suck harder to keep hold, milk will come out, and he will let go and glare at my nipple. Latch back on, take two sucks, then look around/doze off again. He can keep this up for an hour. He does NOT want the milk to come out. He just wants my nipple. When I slip him a pacifier instead of my nipple when he pulls off, he breathes a big sigh of relief and falls right asleep… to wake up crying for me 45 minutes later. What could be wrong? I can’t do this much longer. I’m losing it. I'm not a nice mommy lately and when I'm with my boys 24/7, I... I can't do it.
- I’m not a co-sleeping person; I’m not comfortable with it. However, I’ve tried it for the past week and it doesn’t help. He still wakes up 45 minutes after falling asleep and fusses until I pick him up and cradle him.
- He will not take a nap during the day lying down. He has to be in his swing or bouncy seat. He’s never had a problem lying down at night though. I don’t know if that makes a difference.
- He’s been drooling like mad, so it could be teething. We’ve tried giving him a dose of Tylenol before bed but that doesn’t help.
- He’s been spitting up a good bit over the past few weeks, and his big brother had a severe case of reflux that we’re still dealing with. But his spitting up still is not “projectile and only really started becoming bothersome in the past few weeks. Could he have reflux that didn’t affect him until now?
- I’ve gone over it a dozen times, and nothing in my diet has changed over the past month. I do know he has a dairy sensitivity, so I’ve not had milk/milk products since June. I read labels, I’ve looked at the “hidden ingredient list on Kellymom.
