How long have you waited for a custom order? And should I contact the WAHM?

I paid for a custom order on July 9th. The WAHM said it would be done in 4-6 weeks. We emailed back and forth a couple of times right at the beginning about fabric and such, but I have not heard from her since. I was thinking that she might tell me when she was mailing out my order? It has been 6 weeks, and no fluffy mail to be found. I don't want to be a nudge, so I have not emailed. Should I? Is this typical? I have only ordered a custom dipe one other time and that WAHM was super fast and kept in contact the whole time.

Those of you with more experience ordering custom, please give me your opinion.

By the way, I have ordered from this same WAHM instock and the dipe came very quickly.

I would just email her about where she's at with it, and make sure you specify that you're just wondering, and excited to get your order. You could ask her to email you when it ships. I have done a couple custom orders, and the WHAM has always emailed me when the dipe(s) shipped. I'm sure it will be fine.

I ususally will send a casual email saying you are just wondering what your status is. Maybe she is just really busy and forgot to update you? The longest I waited was 3 months, although I was quoted 3 weeks. The WAHM was really apologetic and sent me some nice wipes too.

I would also e-mail this WAHM and casually ask her about an update on the order. Since she estimated 4-6 weeks, it certainly seems reasonable for you to send off an e-mail. I had an order that was supposed to take 3 weeks, but then she ended up having a baby and things got a little crazy (she was supposed to have the baby after she thought she would finish the order :)). But she did eventually e-mail me and apologize for the delay.

I had the same thing happen, (was quoted 2-3 weeks, ended up taking 2 months) and the WAHm suddenly stopped e-mailing me about my order after 2 weeks. After several unreturned e-mails I ende dup cancelling the order because it was early in my CD career and I NEEDED the dipes!
Good luck! I'd say if it's from someplace REALLY cool (like Pam's FMBG, or a FM custom) obviously hold out as long as needed, but otherwise I wouldn't wait that long. It's too frustrating to ahve all that $$ tied up!
