Default Dr. Phil's potty training in 1 day - pros/cons?

Has anybody used this method? It uses an anatomically correct doll. On the BIG DAY, both the doll and child will give up diapers forever

I got a "kit" off of Pottytrainingconcepts.com that comes with a anatomically correct doll, 6 training pants, floor potty (like bijorn), toilet insert, and a handbook on "how-to". i didn't even get a chance to look at it since ds has taken the initiative and goes on the potty w/o accidents as long as i remind him every now and then if he's pre-occupied. i'm actually thinking about selling it.

i think it's a good concept, but have no idea how it works, since ds is doing this on his own i don't want to jinx myself and ruin what seems to be working so well with a 1 day crash course :)

*sorry if i can't post this here* but if you're interested it's for a boy 2T.

hope someone with experience can give you some input.

    It's the dumbest thing ever.
First off, the 'doll' is creepy. Really creepy. Anatomically correct? No. I used a boy version once... ha ha ha. Not to be crude, but you could not SEE the penis. It was a bulge with a hole. Not anatomically correct at all.
You have to practically break it's leg to get it to pee. It leaks like crazy. And it's just plain creepy. Not to mention ridiculously priced.
I know several people who have tried it and all of them thought it was a sham.

I'd be interested to know what kind of role Dr. Phil actually played in potty-training his own children, and how that worked out for him. Unless he successfully implemented it with his own kids, I'd be really hesitant to give my money to some know-it-all guy who a)is NOT a child psychologist and b)probably delegated potty training to his wife.

I'm all burned out on Dr. Phil.

(This is cross-posted in Around the House)

Hi, I am a first time poster (I've been lurking for like 3 years). Anyway, if anyone is interested, Ann of tykiediapers is accepting pre-orders for the Baby Bottom dolls with Potty (made by Fanny's Playhouse, if you want to see what they look like). These are anatomically correct, soft dolls that come in white, black, asian, and hispanic versions. (But they don't actually wet.) She sells them at a discount, so you might have to wait until she has enough for a minimum order.

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately, and I noticed that there is not too much diversity in potty training dolls, especially the ones that actually wet, so I thought this was a nice alternative. Also some people might not be into function dolls--I'm usually not, but I'm willing to make an exception for the sake of potty training, as my daughter seems a little resistant. Personally, I think the Corolle potty dolls are a little creepy--my daughter didn't like the picture of it I showed her on the computer. And I heard the Aquini potty dolls, although are more attractive, don't work as well. There used to be a Fisher-Price Little Mommy potty doll in an African-American version but it's been discontinued. Sigh. Although I'm Asian, that's the doll my daughter wanted.
