Default How do you clean/ sterilize AVENT pacifiers??

    Hi there-
I have been using Avent pacifiers with my 7 week old son. I went to boil one to sterilize it and the nipple on the pacifier filled with water droplets. I had to throw it away since I figured it was an open invitation to bacteria. So, I clean them under running hot water with soap and they STILL get water droplets inside the nipple?? I have thrown out 3 now and am reluctant to switch brands since he is doing so well going between the breast, bottle, and this brand of pacifier.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I had the same problem. It does not seem to happen when I run them through the dishwasher. I also have steam sterilizor that works fine.

I put mine through the dishwasher. They did get water droplets, but if you shake them around a bunch afterward, and also set them out to dry, especially if the nipple is upright, so it drains out, they will dry in a few hours or so. I just made sure they sat dry for awhile before giving them to DS.

I put DD's in the dishwasher in a cage on the upper rack.

The Gerber brand does this also. I think it is okay as the nipple has no holes in it, so the water inside is not ingested by the baby. But I'd be sure to always check the pacifier to make sure it is still intact.
