Default I think I'm giving up on "Baby Food"

more or less. Aine hates her highchair, and squirms when we put her in there. She is very interested in eating, but she wants what YOU have. As in, she'll start to whine and fuss (and even howl) if she indicates her interest and you don't allow her a taste. So I'm trying to find things that I'm eating that she can taste, and skipping the blending/pureeing. I do have homemade baby food in the freezer, but she wants to feed herself or eat from your fingers. She grabs any spoon to do it herself. Its too messy to feed her purees on my lap. Yuck!

I have even taken to "hiding" from her sometimes if I'm eating something she can't taste.

The cutest part is that she knows the fridge has food in it - she'll hoot when you open it.

One of the results is that I'm not being as cautious as I intended. I.e., she's already had wheat, corn, and black beans - all within one day! That was the morning she pulled a sneak attack on her daddy's fingers, which had maple syrup on them. (She fussed, he picked her up, and she said "Gotcha!" She was mad that he was eating and not sharing)

    Andrie-

    Those eyes are amazing!!!!!

We kind of blew right past the baby food after a month or so of "practice". My Ped at the time recommended going right to "people" food, so that Sophie would get used to texture.

We haven't looked back since. I totally understand the hiding thing (I'm guilty of that one!), I hate that Sophie kind of begs to get what I'm eating, despite having her own food right in front of her.

I would give Aine whatever you're eating, as long as no nuts, honey, etc. You'd be surprised what these little ones like! Sophie goes crazy over bruschetta. Who knew?!

    Have fun :)
