I think I gave DS Yo Baby yogurt before I was giving him cows milk (after 1 yo). Is this okay? I thought you were supposed to wait till after one year to give cows milk but maybe yogurt is okay.
TIA!

I don't have the reference in front of me, but that is exactly what I remember reading... cow's milk yogurt is okay before 1 year, but you should hold off on straight cow's milk until 1 year.

Stacey--I started offering yogurt (Yo Baby) when Ellie was about 7 1/2 months old. She never had any problems!
I think that the rec is that cows milk straight is not until after 1 yo, but other milk products are okay (unless milk allergies are known to be present). I've been giving yo-baby to Kaya since 7.5 months with no problems.

Yogurt and cheese are fermented, which gets rid of a bunch of the lactose and makes them less allergenic, so they're recommended earlier.
I gave Kael Yo-Baby at 7m to fatten him up. It did make him constipated so we had to balance it out with more fiber and prune juice.
Also, he didn't like Yo-baby for some reason so we switched to Dannon La Creme, which is also made from whole milk.
Yes, it should be ok to give yogurt before 1 year unless your child has a cows milk allergy. It seems like part of the reason is that they don't want cows milk to replace breastmilk or formula as a liquid because it isn't as nutritionally complete.
