Default Help! What to do with over-ripe blueberries

I just bought 2 lbs of over ripe, mushy, nearly tasteless blueberries from Costco.
Does anyone know if they are especially good to use for anything (baking, perhaps)?

Does Costco have such a good return policy that they'd take the carton back if I try to return them?

How about muffins or bread? Over ripe bananas are good for baking, so I would think blueberries would be also. I would definitely call them and ask about returning them. I bet they'll take them back. Do you still have your receipt?

you could freeze them and throw them in smoothies when ever needed.

costco will absolutely take them back. i believe they prefer that you just bring the container... they don't want the yucky berries. you don't even need to have the receipt, just the container.

Bring them back. They are really good about that kind of thing.

FYI: I bought some yesterday. Checked them out really well ~ shocked them, etc. They were in the warm car for maybe 1+ hour. Got them home and immediately stuck them in the refrigerator. Pulled them out for dinner and there was a HUGE fly in there. There was NO WAY that the thing flew in there b/c it couldn't get out. Needless to say, I retruned them this AM (and, unfortunately, exchanged them b/c they are a good deal). Wash the fruit VERY VERY well!!! YUCK!!!!

Do you ever feel sort of guilty when you return something, yet you have a totally legit reason, just as you did?
I always feel like the cs person is doubting me.

i'm afraid i bought the same blueberries from costco :( too bad i didn't see your post before shopping!

i just salvaged some of them in an awesome smoothie using blueberries, strawberries, pineapple. the pineapple added a great flavor!

my neighbor just tried the following super yummy recipe. i think i'll use up the rest of the berries to make it too. i would suggest adding extra berries.

    Blueberry Buttermilk Coffeecake

    INGREDIENTS
    1/2 cup butter
    1 1/3 cups white sugar
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 cups buttermilk
    4 cups all-purpose flour
    3 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon salt
    2 cups blueberries

    2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    2/3 cup white sugar
    6 tablespoons butter, softened

    DIRECTIONS
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan. Sift together 4 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

    2. In a large bowl, cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/3 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk, mixing just until incorporated. Sir in blueberries. Pour batter into prepared pan. In a small bowl, combine 2/3 cup flour and 2/3 cup sugar. cut in 6 tablespoons butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over top of batter.

    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
