Question about BBB Swap

I have been using Freecycle for years, so I kinda assumed BBB Swap operated somewhat similarly, except with $. If you email a seller and express interest in their items and they do not respond (tried twice), should you just assume they sold it to someone else?

On Freecycle, you do not get a response if the giver gives to someone else, but it does show up on the board as taken. With BBB Swap, however, since there was $ involved, I assumed a seller would at least email back to say they sold it if they didn't post this info in their message update or pictures (on shutterfly, picasso, kodak). Is that right? Is there a protocol?

in my experience, a seller who has time will email you back to say item has been sold. but sometimes, if you have a hot item, you will get SO many emails that you just can't get to answering all of them after the item has been sold.
