Default Opinions needed on 1st b-day gift

This is a follow up to the thread I posted looking for ideas for a 1yo girl in the $20-30 range. These are the ones I want to run with. I'd love to buy them all plus all the other great ideas I got before but I narrowed it down...

-personalized hooded bath towel, a bath toy and some CA Baby soap

-that Parents' brand musical instrument set eta link:
    http://www.target.com/Bee-Bop-Band-M...e=1&rh=&page=1

-Playsilks, a kids' music CD and some of those egg shakers

    -Baby Legs

-a canvas organzing bin, like the $5 ones at Target, and a few board books

I'm in with all those and I can't decide! Thanks for your thoughts!

Btw, this is an only child. Family lives in a more rural part of the US so not really close to things like Whole Foods or cool baby boutiques.

I vote for option 3 or 4, just because those are probably less likely something they may have seen in a rural area. Like, stuff you couldn't find at walmart or target. Of course, I am totally in love with babylegs....I've never seen playsilks but they totall intrigue me. All good ideas though!

My fav is #3. If you think the mom will really like babylegs, that might be a good, fun option too.

eta: if I give silks, I sometimes put a little note in about "ten fun things to do with playsilks" or something like that since not everyone knows what they are/how kids use them, kwim?

This would be my vote as well. Amy adores those egg shakers. They were the biggest hit at Hanukkah last year.

My DDs love their hooded towels, I like the idea of having it personalized as I love personalized items but wouldn't pay for it on a towel.

I never really used our Babylegs and have received similar comments from other friends.

The other ideas are all cute too!

I vote for the personalized hooded towel or playsilks. I think those would be something that they might not buy themselves. IMO the Bee Bop Band isn't that great. Some the instruments just don't really do much. The ladybug and the "tamborine" thing are pretty worthless no real musicality to them. The shaker, the bells and drum are ok. I bought that for DS for his 1st bday and was disappointed with it.

I'm all for the books or silks or instruments. Those are the things that would get the most use in our family. Have fun!

    ITA.

Also agree with the pp about the Bee bop band kit not being worth it. We have it and the instruments aren't very good at all.
