Plan Toys Parking Garage... 2007 vs 2008?

I have decided to get my 3yo son one of the Plan Toys Parking Garages. I see both the 2007 and 2008 on the kidsurplus site. The 2007 is definitely discounted.

Is there any major difference in the 2007 and 2008 that would be worth the $20 price difference? I don't know either one well enough to know the difference.

Also, his grandmother wants to get him something to go along with it. What would you recommend? Should she get one of the roadway systems, or one of the other buildings (like the fire station)? I wondered what seem to appeal most to your children.

I was wondering the same thing and thought I might try to scope out the one at the indy toy store nearby. But then, I thought, "NO, save this present for when he's like THREE, not ONE!" I want to get things a little too early sometimes. I just thought DD would enjoy it too.

IIRC, it doesn't come with a lot of vehicles, does it? Would you consider buying a bunch of accessories as the "extra" gift?

Also, Kidsurplus usually has % off sales on top of the freeshipping over 75, right? I was considering holding out on a few puzzles and bibs an such until they changed the promotion 10/29.

I don't know about the difference between 2007 and 2008, but we have the 2007 and my ds play with it every day. I would definitely recommend the deluxe road system to go with it. Hot wheels cars can also be used for the garage and roadway.

I got this for my 2 year old and my older DS was 6 at the time. I thought they would love it. It was played with for a week maybe and then cast to the side. The little elevator broke off and it has been sitting in the toy closet for the most part since then. So frustrating since I thought they would love it, it was my big idea for my 2 year old that Christmas! You can't make them love everything I guess! I haven't seen the 2008 model, but I would probably go for the discounted one unless they have greatly improved the elevator!
