about spiders

Was just reading a thread about spiders...it's been bothering me for a while, but I see different types of spiders crop up at various times in my house. I'm bothered but haven't had the time to think much about it till now. What could be the reason there are so many? Is that normal? Do I need to get someone in? What can I do to find out if there's a nest?

Well, it's spring, so a lot of them are hatching. I see a lot of tiny spiders setting up webs in the corner where there was nothing just a little while ago. Those I don't mind. Dh sprayed some Borax in the basement (mostly for ants), and left a couple of webs alone. We get crickets down there in the summer and it would be nice to have some help keeping the numbers down!
